lots of love (lolove for short (or even just lol)) is a for fun pack i created way back in high school as part of an inside joke and have sorta maintained to this day! the concept is simple, sneak near other players and heart particles appear around you!
this works with any entity that has a customname tag (which can be applied with a name tag!) so modded entities can get the love too :)
works well with the client side mod Not Enough Animations! (turn on player hugging and pet wolfs/cats in the config)
which version to download?
if you are playing anywhere from 1.15 to 1.20.6, any v1.x.x should work as far as im aware. (the ability to easily check for sneaking players was added in 1.15, and i could go back and make a working version for 1.13-1.14.4 its not worth the time to me lol) keep in mind, v1.x.x may not have all the features listed below, see its changelogs for more info
for 1.21+ use any v2.x.x. it may not be as universal so check to see if theres a version tailored for the game version you are playing on, otherwise mojang broke some obscure small thing. try to fix it yourself because chances are i wont be getting to it any time soon
features
admin configurable options that can be toggled with /function lolove:config
- healing love
- enables a 2 heart heal every 10 times an entity is loved
- stat privacy
- settings to change how strict the stat checking can be. including all entities (including players), only non-player entities (default), or disable the feature entirely
stats and personal settings can be viewed/modified with /trigger lolove
- consent mode
- you cannot recieve love unless you are also sneaking
- stat view
- see how many times you love and have been loved!
- stat checker
- check the stats of the closest entity to you. depends on the stat privacy strictness set above
uninstallation
the pack should be uninstalled with /function lolove:uninstall to remove scoreboards and clear the datapack related schedules. after running this command make sure to remove it from the world folder or it will reinstall on the next /reload or server boot. technically you can just remove the pack from the datapack folder but that leaves behind random scoreboards which is :(
todo
- give the statchecker a chat error if no entity is within range, or, if only players are in range and stat privacy strictness excludes players.
- move the stat privacy checker from a global setting to a per player setting
- potentially backport new features to the legacy version
- i have little interest in doing this, however if i happen to play on a server in a "legacy" version, i may update it for that
- a player setting to disable it for themselves entirely
- make a better pack icon lol
