I think everyone that wants to make custom blocks needs Cube. Cube is one of the best engines for custom blocks. Here's why:

Cube supports:

1. Custom Blocks, no entities (makes double slabs become their full block version and leaving the blockstate unused)

2. Custom Blocks in the creative inventory.

3. Redstone-Basted Blocks.

4. Piston push-able blocks and the entity inside it to not die.

5. An Utilites folder where you have raycast for your custom blocks.

6. An Example pack for you to make your custom block.
