LIMITBREAK is an extensive, mechanic-heavy, long-term roguelite RPG experience built into a single datapack. Face escalating waves of unique, custom-coded enemies, battle cinematic bosses, all while permadeath is active.
This datapack offers dozens of hours of challenging, replayable gameplay designed to push 2–8 players to their limits over multiple sessions. Expect very difficult encounters where full party wipes are not uncommon, though the truly daring are welcome to attempt solo play.
For the datapack to function correctly, it requires all players to be /op.

This datapack offers extensive, challenging, and highly replayable gameplay defined by unique custom content for players to discover:

Custom Mob Ecosystem: Face over 50 custom mobs integrated into escalating wave challenges, each featuring unique behaviors and attack patterns.

8 Specialized Classes: Dive into 8 unique classes, each replacing core vanilla combat with specialized mechanics such as entire magic systems, summoning mechanics, permanent class abilities, and different stat spreads.

Boss Encounters: Test your build mastery against 5 distinct custom bosses, featuring with custom attacks, behaviour, scripted mechanics and environmental challenges.

Deep Gear Customization: Discover and utilize over 40 custom enchants, with 4 completely new armor sets that profoundly alter item performance and player combat strategies.

Permanent Progression: Utilize Points to buy items from the Point Shop or consume them to gain stat bonuses. Spend your ⌬ Credits to buy custom classes and world upgrades that offer lasting benefits and reshape the difficulty of future runs.
📦 Installation
As of V.1.2.0 the datapack can be easily installed by just putting the downloaded .zip folder in the world datapacks folder.
Although compatible, it is recommended to play the datapack without any mods that add additional content or changes progression in any way since this datapack completely changes the vanilla progression.
Performance mods, terrain generation mods, structure mods, and cosmetic mods should all work perfectly fine with this datapack, feel free to use them to improve your gameplay experience.
📖 Guide
Limitbreak is a challenging roguelite experience built around surviving escalating waves and permanent progression. While the mechanics are deep, the flow of a run is straightforward.
Starting a Run

Launch: Upon loading the world, you will spawn in the Hub. Go to the basement and stand in the 3x3 area to teleport and begin your run in the Overworld.

Preparation: Once in the Overworld, you must prepare before the first monster wave begins at midnight.
Core Gameplay

Waves: At midnight, mobs will spawn and attack. Defeating them is the main way to earn Points.

Supplies: Every 3 days a Point Shop along with a reward chest will spawn in the world spawn.

Bosses: Every 10th day a custom boss will spawn, beating it would drop custom loot and also set a checkpoint.

Intermission: After beating a boss, players will enter a 7 days period of peace. No waves will spawn in this period and players are free to prepare for upcoming battles.
Outcomes

Termination: If everyone in the server dies / full party wipe, then the run will terminate and everyone will be teleported back to the hub where you will obtain Credits based on your Points.

Resolution: Reach day 50 and beat the boss to finish a run, you can click on the message to return to the hub, you gain extra ⌬ Credits for finishing a run. You can spend these ⌬ Credits to buy classes or world upgrades.
Commands & Notes
- A couple of useful commands are:
/trigger Gather_Pointto set a new world spawn and gathering point for waves./trigger ClassInfoto view various information on all the classes./trigger StatCheckto check your current stats in full./trigger EndRunto prematurely end a run and return to the hub.
Note: Some vanilla changes are present to balance the progression, these are things such as doInsomnia being false and player-created iron golems being insta-killed.
⚠️ Warning
I'm the only developer of this datapack and making datapacks is simply a hobby of mine, don't expect regular updates or ports. Currently there are plans to continue adding content, but no version updates or ports are in mind.
Right now this datapack is missing plenty of features, but most of the main features are already finished. Here's some planned content I have in mind:
- More bosses to go through (Only 5 currently so you will fight the same 5 every run).
- More world upgrades / player upgrades.
- More mobs (low priority)
