Accidental Drop Protection v1.0.0
Initial release.
What does it do?
Press Q to drop an item? The mod evaluates how valuable it is and asks you to confirm.
- Trash items (dirt, rotten flesh, etc.) drop instantly — no annoying popups
- Valuable items (diamond gear, netherite, elytra, shulker boxes) show a warning
- Press Q again within 1 second to confirm the drop
- Hold Shift+Q to bypass protection entirely
How it works
Every item gets a score based on:
- Base rarity (netherite = high, dirt = zero)
- Enchantments (Mending, Sharpness, etc. add bonus)
- Custom naming (+15 points)
- Remaining durability
- Shulker box contents
The higher the score, the stronger the warning.
Adaptive learning
The mod learns from you. Drop the same item 5+ times? It stops warning you about it. Never drop your netherite pickaxe? It gets extra protection.
Config
Auto-generated dropprotection.json on first launch. Everything is customizable:
- Toggle protection for specific item types
- Adjust value thresholds
- Change confirmation window duration
- Enable/disable adaptive learning
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
