Against The Wild β v0.0.4 Alpha
New Features
Primitive Flint Axe
- Added a new primitive tool for chopping wood.
- The axe head must first be knapped from flint.
- The finished head is attached to a wooden handle using Primitive Rope.
- Features low durability and realistically slow woodcutting.
Bark and Tinder Gathering
- The Primitive Knife can now remove bark from birch logs.
- Bark harvesting requires holding the knife against the log for several seconds.
- Harvested trees are visually damaged by becoming stripped.
- Bark harvesting includes working animations, sounds, and particles.
- Birch Bark and dry Plant Fiber can be converted into Tinder Bundles.
- Only a small amount of bark is obtained from each log.
Primitive Fire Drill
- Added a realistic alternative to early-game flint and steel.
- Crafted using wooden components and Primitive Rope.
- Requires prepared tinder to start a fire.
- Ignition takes several seconds of continuous work.
- The process includes animation, sounds, particles, and progress feedback.
- Rain and wet conditions make ignition significantly more difficult.
- Failed attempts consume the prepared tinder.
World-Built Fire Pit
- Fire pits are constructed directly in the world.
- Stones, kindling, fuel logs, and tinder are added in separate visual stages.
- Every added stick and log appears individually in the model.
- Prepared fire pits are ignited directly with the Primitive Fire Drill.
- Fires require fuel and burn for a limited amount of time.
- Logs, planks, coal, and charcoal can be used as fuel.
- Uncovered fires are gradually extinguished by rain.
- Water buckets can extinguish fires immediately.
- Burning fire pits melt nearby snow.
- Extinguished fires leave hot embers before turning into ash.
- Embers can be revived using additional sticks and fuel.
Cooking Rack
- A cooking rack can be constructed on a burning fire pit.
- The first stick places the two supports.
- The second stick adds the horizontal cooking spit.
- Up to four food items can be placed on the spit.
- Food cooks more slowly than on a standard Minecraft campfire.
- Cooking food is displayed directly on the rack.
Stone Hammer
-
Added the Stone Hammer as the first primitive mining tool.
-
Crafted from a large Rock, a Stick, and either Plant Fiber, Primitive Rope, or String.
-
Has 64 durability and a slow, heavy attack.
-
Can collect basic stone materials but cannot recover ores.
-
Supported rocks include:
- Stone
- Cobblestone
- Mossy Cobblestone
- Granite
- Diorite
- Andesite
- Tuff
- Calcite
-
Broken stone produces 2β4 Small Rocks.
-
There is a 25% chance to additionally obtain a large Rock.
-
Ores are mined extremely slowly and yield no metal.
-
Harder materials consume more durability.
-
When the hammer breaks, its wooden handle is returned.
-
It can be repaired using rocks or binding materials.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
