Version 2.5.0 — "The Prismatic Veins"
A content update introducing core resource generation across all three dimensions. These new materials establish the foundation for upcoming progression tiers, automation blocks, and advanced equipment.
World Generation: New Ores
Three unique ores have been added to the world generation. They spawn across different dimensions and yield raw materials for future crafting recipes:
-
Corrupted Slate
- Location: Nether (embedded in Netherrack)
- Rarity and Size: Common; large veins up to 20 blocks; 20 generation attempts per chunk
- Drops: 1–2 Corrupted Iron
-
Ash Obsidian
- Location: Overworld (Deepslate layers, Y: -64 to -40)
- Rarity and Size: Extremely rare; small veins of 4 blocks; roughly 1 vein every 3 chunks
- Drops: 1 Ash Crystal
-
Celestial Aether
- Location: The End (Outer Islands only, replaces End Stone)
- Rarity and Size: 12 generation attempts per chunk; veins up to 10 blocks
- Drops: 1–2 Aether Shards
Mining Rules & Properties
- Tool Requirements: All three new ores require a Diamond or Netherite Pickaxe to mine. Lower tier tools (Iron and below) will destroy the block without dropping any items.
- Mechanics Compatibility: All three ores award experience points upon breaking and are fully compatible with both the Fortune and Silk Touch enchantments.
- Luminescence: Celestial Aether emits a moderate light level (light level 7), while Corrupted Slate emits a faint glow (light level 3).
- Tags Optimization: The new blocks are correctly registered under the standard
c:orestag. Consequently, special abilities like the Ore Seeker trait and the Patrician's Ring Fortune bonus will properly apply to them.
Development Note Regarding Materials
- Future Utility: The newly introduced items — Corrupted Iron, Ash Crystal, and Aether Shard — currently have no active crafting recipes. They serve as foundational materials for upcoming content updates (including the Blast Furnace, upgraded cables, and new armor sets). Players can currently mine and hoard these resources in preparation for the next patch.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
