Changes
Ardwick 1.4 introduces throwable spears, reintroduces archaeology, adds seasonal fishing, and greatly balances the heat mechanic added in 1.3.1.
Features
- Spears can be thrown! It's awesome fun.
- New flint spear is the earliest weapon in the game.
- Heat now peaks at 4pm. Cold peaks at 4am. Brings slightly more realism.
- Heat and Cold build/drain at 10x the previous resolution so that their accumulation feels smoother.
- Eyes of Ender can now be used to locate Ancient Cities.
- Seasonal fishing. More Tropical Fish in Summer, more Salmon in Autumn, more Junk in Winter.
- Warm hostile mobs (Husks, Parched) migrate north during Summer. Cold hostile mobs (Strays) migrate south during Winter.
- Archaelogy has been readded. Find Suspicious Sand/Gravel in river beds and deserts.
Balance
- Heat has been greatly rebalanced across biomes/seasons and rapidly disappates when leaving a hot environment (like the Nether). Most of this should feel intuitive in game however if you're struggling, Gold and Rose Gold armour cool you down, so does water and standing near soul fire.
- Froglights are now cheaper, requiring two glowstone dust, a magma cream, and a dye.
- Chainmail armour is now craftable from iron nuggets and ingots. Its cheaper than iron, has lower overall protection, but still specialises in arrow resistance.
- Axe damage minorly reduced so that swords remain relevant.
- Wooden Sword and Spear recipes removed. The earliest weapon in the game is now the Flint Spear.
- Ghast health increased from 10 to 20
- Blaze health increased from 20 to 40
- Endermen and Wither Skeleton health reduced from 100 to 80.
- Gear recycling disabled.
- Blast furnaces have a new recipe replacing Iron Ingots with Deepslate, and the interior Mud Kiln with a Campfire.
- On Easy Difficulty, hostile mobs no longer target the player.
- Spears have new durabilities to balance their utility as thrown weapons.
Fixes
- Visual glitch where rapidly draining heat made the vigour bar overlay look like the player was cold.
- Tools in the crafting guide now show accurate damage values.
- Attack speed now reads as ∞ rather than a ludicrously high number.
- Wither Skeletons can now replace Parched, Strays, and Bogged during Eclipses and New Moons.

Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
