Chao Garden Mod 1.0.7
The Chao Races update. Train your Chao, race them against rivals and friends, bet on races, trade Chao and visit each other's gardens.
🏁 Chao Races
- A new Chao Race site on the Chao PC's Internet (needs a Wi-Fi Router in the Chao Garden). Pick any of your Chao, even banked or far away, and race it.
- 17 cups. Run, Swim, Fly and Power each have Beginner, Jewel and Master cups. Then there's the Finals line (Onyx, Diamond and the 12-race Challenge) and the Hero and Dark races.
- Races run in the new Chao Stadium, with a themed track for every cup: meadows, beaches, stump valleys, canyons, gem pillars, lagoons, sky tracks, quarries and more.
- Every part of the track tests its own skill. Ground and hills use Run, pools use Swim, glides use Fly, wall climbs and crags use Power, and Onyx's long trails use Stamina. A great runner with no Swim still struggles through the pool.
- Cheer your Chao on for a burst of speed. More bond makes a stronger cheer, but it costs stamina, and an upset Chao might ignore you.
- Personality shows on the track: sleepy Chao stop for a doze, distracted ones wander off their line, clumsy ones trip at walls.
- New race animations: sprinting, hand-over-hand wall climbing, panting when worn out, a victory hop and a sulk for finishing near the back.
- Rewards: skill XP, medals, DNA, emeralds for a win, a placeable trophy for every cup, bond, and a podium finish with your Chao up on the 1st/2nd/3rd steps.
- Chao Podium blocks to build your own winners' podium at home.
- Hot streaks and nerves: three wins in a row and your Chao struts with confidence. Three bad finishes and it gets nervous.
👥 Race with friends
- Turn on Others can join and friends have 30 seconds to enter their own Chao from their PC.
- Spectate: any race, cup or betting, can be watched from the grandstand with the new Watch button. No Chao or bet needed.
- Each player gets their own camera, HUD, results and rewards.
🎰 ChaoBet
- Bet emeralds on a race of eight Chao nobody owns, each with its own look, personality and odds.
- Odds come from simulating the race hundreds of times with the real race rules, and every runner has a hidden form on the day, so long shots can come good.
- Bet as many emeralds as you have: emerald blocks count as 9, and bigger chips appear when you can afford them.
- Friends can back the same runner or a different one, and a Bets drawer during the race shows who backed what.
⏱️ Times board
- The 5 fastest laps on every track, server-wide, plus a My Chao page with your own Chao's best laps and their rank.
🏦 Chao Bank
- A new Banking site: deposit and withdraw emeralds and emerald blocks, and send emeralds to any friend who's online.
- The Chao Shop and ChaoBet can spend your bank balance as well as what you carry, and ChaoBet winnings go straight into the bank.
🔁 Chao Trade
- Swap Chao with another player through the new Chao Trade site. Both of you see the two Chao side by side before accepting.
- A traded Chao is a little homesick at first, until it bonds with its new owner.
🏡 Visiting gardens
- Invite friends to your island with the new Visit site, or accept an invite straight from chat.
- Carry a Chao on your back to bring it along for a playdate. Chao from different gardens become friends twice as fast.
- Visiting Chao always go back home, even after a logout or a crash.
🕵️ A hooded stranger
- About one day in eight, a suspicious hooded stranger turns up somewhere in the Chao Garden. Find him before the day ends and he'll sell you a rare Chao egg, sometimes even a Black one. He only takes emeralds in hand.
💞 Friends & family
- Chao remember everyone who's raised them, and are overjoyed to see a past owner again.
- The Friends list now shows family (parents, siblings, cousins and more) and every player the Chao knows, with their bond.
🛠️ Fixes & improvements
- Chao never get stuck or suffocate inside blocks.
- Banked Chao no longer age in the PC. Chao out in the world keep ageing, and evolve when they load if they were due while you were away.
- Every race key can be rebound in Controls > Key Binds.
- No more "Experimental Settings" warning when opening a world.
- Better performance: egg hatching, monster checks and save data are all much lighter.
- New How-To pages for Racing, Betting, Banking and Visiting.
Requirements
Fabric Loader, Fabric API and GeckoLib.
⚠️ Races need a Chao PC with a Wi-Fi Router within 3 blocks, in the Chao Garden.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
