Overview
This version revamps the mod's Mechanics, changes some Recipes, and improves some Potions.
Mechanic Changes
- Refined Drink/Throw Mode toggle
- Drink/Throw Mode toggle is now R by default rather than L Control
Developer Insight
-
The toggle was very janky and unorganized; therefore, it was changed to be more manageable on the back end.
-
The keybind change is trivial, as it can be changed.
Potion Changes
- Toxication effect now deals 1 Magic Damage every 5 Ticks rather than 1 Magic Damage every 10 Ticks
- Agility effect now increases Movement Speed by 40% instead of by +0.03
- Drowsiness effect now decreases Movement Speed by 20% instead of -0.02
- Incapacitation effect now decreases Movement Speed by 50% instead of -0.05
Developer Insight
- Toxication did not deal meaningful damage, so it was buffed to deal the same amount of damage, but faster, in hopes of making it more useful.
- Agility, Drowsiness, and Incapacitation all used an additive equation instead of the much cleaner and convenient multiplicative method, which works better.
Recipe Changes
- Amplification Powder now requires an Ender Pearl, Popped Chorus Fruit, and 2 Enrichment Powders rather than an Ender Pearl, Echo Shard, Enrichment Powder, and Prismarine Crystals
Developer Insight
- While the recipe is easier than before, it was to pave the way for different powders in the future. If this happens to be controversial, it is entirely flexible to be changed.
Minor Changes
- All Potion descriptions changed to no longer include "Left Click to swap between Drink Mode and Throw Mode"
- Alchemist's Potion of Damage now correctly states its Cooldown in Ticks rather than in Seconds (changed from "Cooldown of 0.5 Seconds" to "Cooldown of 10 Ticks")
- Added Alchemical Combat section to Controls screen
- Mod Updated to 1.21.8
Developer Insight
- The first two just make sense according to the changes made in this update, and the third is a QOL feature I doubt anyone would argue against, as it is now clear where the Drink/Throw Mode toggle keybind is.
Summary
Overall, this update intends to optimize the mod's code, provide a clean foundation for upcoming features, and rebalance some currently lacking ones.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
