Chikiwapis Economy — Server-Side Update
This release changes Chikiwapis Economy from a client-and-server mod into a fully server-side mod.
Previous versions registered 12 custom items for the physical coins and banknotes. Because those items were added to Minecraft’s item registry, Java Edition players were required to install the mod on their clients before joining the server.
This is no longer required.
What changed?
- Removed the 12 custom coin and banknote item registrations.
- Physical currency now uses the vanilla
minecraft:paperitem. - Each denomination is identified through its own
minecraft:item_modelcomponent. - Java Edition players can now join without installing Chikiwapis Economy.
- The mod only needs to be installed in the server’s
modsfolder. - Economy balances, jobs, banking, shops and physical currency functionality remain server-controlled.
New environment
Server: Required
Client: Not required
Players no longer need Fabric Loader, Fabric API or Chikiwapis Economy installed on their Java clients.
Official resource pack
A separate official resource pack has been published for the custom coin and banknote models:
Chikiwapis Economy — Currency Resource Pack
The resource pack is listed as a related dependency for this version.
It is not required for the server-side code to function, but Java Edition players need it to see the correct coin and banknote appearances. Without the resource pack, physical currency will appear as regular paper.
Server administrators can distribute the resource pack automatically through server.properties:
resource-pack=DIRECT_DOWNLOAD_URL
resource-pack-sha1=RESOURCE_PACK_SHA1
require-resource-pack=true
Players can also install the resource pack manually from its Modrinth project.
Updating from a previous version
Before replacing the previous mod version, all players should deposit their physical coins and banknotes into the bank.
The old physical currency was stored as custom registered items and cannot be converted automatically after those item registrations are removed.
Digital balances, job progress, shop configuration and other saved economy data are not affected by this change.
Bedrock and Geyser
Bedrock players connecting through Geyser require the separate Bedrock resource pack and Geyser custom mappings.
The Java Edition resource pack cannot be used directly on Bedrock Edition.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
