ClassicGUIShop 1.4.0
Changes since 1.3.17
Your server’s shop should be easy to run and a pleasure to use. That’s been the focus of 1.4.0. This update took a few weeks to crank out, but its really what ClassicShopGUI needed. Hope you guys enjoy!
This update brings a rebuilt Adminshop, simpler pricing, new ways for players to earn money, and better tools for understanding your economy. There’s plenty happening behind the counter, while the player shop keeps its familiar Minecraft feel.
A new home for shop administration
Adminshop has been rebuilt into a dedicated workbench. Open it with /adminshop or F8 with ClassicGUIShop installed on your client.
- Introduced a slick interface with rounded buttons, subtle transparency, accent colors, and clearer layouts.
- Added a shop simulator so you can review your changes before players see them.
- Added controls for creating, naming, ordering, and removing categories, including custom icons and descriptions.
- Edit an item’s name, description, and prices directly in Shop Builder.
- Use Arrange Mode to drag items into position or move them between categories.
- Use Bulk Adjust to set buy and sell prices for an entire category.
- Browse items through a creative style picker with tabs, search, scrolling, and multiple selection.
- Add exact held items, including custom variants. Adding an existing item to another category now creates a separate listing.
- Unpriced items remain visible to administrators, clearly marked as hidden from players.
Changes stay in your draft until you select Save changes. Added automatic backups, protection against outdated edits, and Change History for reviewing or restoring previous shop configurations.
Buying and selling changes
- Combined buying and selling into one shop menu.
- Left-click to buy. Right-click to sell.
- Shift-left-click buys 64 ordinary items; shift-right-click sells matching items across your inventory. (I may change this if enough feedback comes in on a better way)
- Both prices appear on each listing, using your server’s currency.
/shop buyand/shop sellstill work and open the player shop.
Purchased items now retain their original data and tooltips. Shop prices and display formatting stay in the shop, so players receive the actual item they purchased.
Better organized books, potions, and arrows
- Enchanted books are organized by enchantment in the same way anyother item would be listed, with their listed levels inside.
- Added support for listing book levels above vanilla limits. Their effects depends on Minecraft default max levels or installed mods. that altr defaults.
- Added a dedicated Potions category to full vanilla presets.
- Grouped potion variants by effect, including stronger, extended, splash, and lingering versions.
- Grouped tipped arrows under Combat → Tipped Arrows → Effect → Variants, between regular and spectral arrows.
- Potion and tipped arrow tooltips show effects, strength, and duration above their prices.
- Simplified the Enchantments/Potions settings into searchable catalogs showing registered content and its sources.
Presets and clearer pricing
Pricing now uses the buy and sell values saved on each listing. Removed the overlapping global multiplier and redundant repricing controls.
Choose from five built-in presets:
- Full Vanilla Normal: the default starter shop, with a 30% target sell return.
- Full Vanilla Hard: more expensive purchases and a 10% target sell return.
- Full Vanilla Easy: cheaper purchases and a 95% target sell return.
- The Basics: resources and core crafting materials.
- Blank Shop: a clean slate for building your own shop.
Some sell prices are lower to prevent profitable conversion loops.
Fresh installations are ready to play with Full Vanilla Normal. Existing shops keep their categories, prices, and balances.
Added preset preview, import, and export. With preset inport/export you can now share/more easily backup your shop layouts and prices without transferring player accounts, permissions, or transaction history. Presets are reviewed in the editor before saving.
A healthier vanilla economy
Rebalanced the vanilla presets around crafting, brewing, processing, and how items are actually used. This includes routes involving bottle refilling, block breakdowns, ore yields, resource blocks, Villager trading, and copper conversions.
I kept useful selling prices in mind while balancing.
Added Villager Trade Loop Fix, enabled by default:
- Adjusts eligible vanilla villager and wandering trader trades to prevent profitable shop resale loops.
- Works with existing merchants and new trades. (Can be enabled or disabled while the game is running.)
- Prevents Hero of the village discounts from bypassing protected prices.
- Preserves trade outputs, progression, and stock behavior. Your villager farms are safe.
- Restores original vanilla trades when disabled.
Modded items and custom datapack mechanics still need administrator pricing review.
Bringing your server’s content into the shop
- Rebuilt Detected Content for browsing vanilla items, registered modded items, and supported datapack content.
- Import an entire source or datapack into its own category.
- Imported content starts at Buy 0 / Sell 0, ready for you to review and enable.
- Repeated imports preserve existing listings and prices.
- Replaced automatic shop population with deliberate preset and import controls.
New shop modes
Give your economy more ways to grow:
- Passive Income: reward players for time spent online.
- Cash Mobs: reward eligible mob kills, with configurable payouts, spawner farming, and cooldown controls.
- Advancement Hunter: reward players for completing detected advancements.
- Warrior Mode: reward PvP kills, with optional victim deductions and repeat-kill safeguards.
- Mishap Charge: apply a configurable death charge, default is at 50 when enabled.
All modes are off by default and can be enabled independently. Customize their payouts, chat prefix names, and colors. Time settings use minutes.
Know what’s happening in your economy
- Added individual player transaction histories with current balances.
- Display times are in the client’s detected timezone using
hh:mm:ss AM/PM (DD/MMM/YY). - Search using local or UTC dates.
- Added currency labels, clearer deductions, and readable descriptions for mode rewards.
- Improved long text readability and removed the unfinished transaction detail popup.
- Added confirmed Set balance and Reset actions. Reset restores the starting balance and clears active history while retaining recovery records.
Added Trending, with separate top 20 purchased and sold lists for the last 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days. Select an item to see which players are trading it and review their transactions.
Commands, permissions, and cleanup
- Added
/econ bal <player>for known online or offline players. - Added
/econ leaderboardfor the five richest eligible players. - Added a setting controlling public visibility of operator balances.
- Kept
/balfocused on your own balance. - Added damaged item selling through
/sellhandand optional valuation for enchanted equipment. - Simplified
/worthinto a single-line quote using the same selling calculation. - Added console/RCON-only
/shoprewardfor trusted voting, donation, and reward integrations, with duplicate payout protection. - Added optional Fabric Permissions API compatibility. No permission manager is bundled.
- Added a separate permission popup for unauthorized Adminshop access.
- Retired legacy administrator editing commands,
/ident, old import commands, and custom folder controls.
Compatibility and fixes
One JAR supports these exact Minecraft versions:
1.20.1 · 1.20.4 · 1.20.6 · 1.21.11 · 26.1.2 · 26.2 · 26.3
Ordinary players still need no client installation. Administrators will need to install the same JAR to use the workbench. Required Fabric API modules are included.
Recomenned Before updating
Back up the entire config/guishop/ folder with the server stopped, then update the server and administrator clients together.
Existing shops are not automatically repriced. To use the revised presets, preview one, load it into the editor, and review it before saving. Export your current shop first if you want to keep its custom layout.
Thank you to everyone who tested, reported problems, and helped shape this update. Enjoy setting up shop!
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
