Automatic cleanup
auto-removal:
enabled: true
autoremoval-interval: 600
warnings:
- "time:300"
- "time:60"
- "time:30"
- "time:10"
- "time:5"
item: true
projectile: true
experience-orb: false
boat: false
minecart: false
itemframe: false
painting: false
primed-tnt: false
mob: false
Each warning must be lower than the cleanup interval. Invalid entries are skipped and reported in the console.
Mob exclusions
These protections only apply to mobs and are enabled by default except for named mobs:
auto-removal:
mob-exclusions:
armor-stands: true
villagers: true
tamed-animals: true
leashed: true
mounted: true
named: false
Mob rules
mob-rules uses an explicit action. protect rules prevent removal, while remove rules target a mob type even when the mob category is disabled.
mob-rules:
- type: "LLAMA"
action: "protect"
custom-name-contains: "PINATA"
- type: "ZOMBIE"
action: "remove"
Available filters:
custom-name— exact name, or"*"to match any custom namecustom-name-contains— matches any name containing the given text
The legacy protected-mobs format is still read for compatibility: a type alone removes the mob, while a type with a name protects it.
Third-party entity protection
Some plugins mark their entities with a custom namespace. Add those namespaces below so ClearLagg never removes them:
protected-namespaces:
- "example-plugin"
- "mycustomplugin"
The values above are examples: use the namespace of the plugin that owns the entities you want to keep. Any entity carrying data from a listed namespace is skipped, regardless of the enabled categories.
Area cleanup
area:
max-radius: 500
/clearlagg area <radius> is capped by this value, and the radius must be a valid positive number.
Update checker
update-checker:
enabled: true
project-id: "clearlagg"
notify-console: true
notify-on-join: true
project-id is the Modrinth project slug. Join notifications are only sent to players with clearlag.admin.
Messages
In lang.yml, customize every in-game message. Hex colors (&#RRGGBB), gradients (<gradient:#FF0000:#FF3333>text</gradient>), and bold tags (text) are supported.
Use /clearlagg reload to apply changes without restarting the server.

- ItemsAdder — its entities are protected from cleanups by default. Use
/clearlagg area <radius> -iato include them in an area cleanup. - MythicMobs — protect custom mobs by adding their internal IDs to
mythicmobs.protected-mobs:
mythicmobs:
protected-mobs:
- "ExampleBoss"
Compatibility
- Paper or Spigot 1.21+
- Java 17+
- All integrations are optional; the plugin works without them.
