Compatibility
Changes
Cozy’s Improved Cats 2.1.0 — Dimensional Companions
Meet new companions in the Nether and End, bring more color to their homes, and discover another way to find Ancient Fish!
Added
-
Nether Cats
- Red-coated cats with orange eyes, found naturally in Crimson Forests.
- Nether Cats are immune to fire and lava.
- An eligible following Nether Cat grants its owner Fire Resistance.
-
End Cats
- Black-coated cats with purple eyes, found naturally in eligible outer-End biomes.
- An eligible following End Cat prevents Endermen from becoming angry solely because its owner looks at them.
- It can also grant brief Slow Falling during a fall, with a shared owner cooldown.
- Gaze protection does not prevent retaliation after attacks or clear existing anger.
-
Dimensional inheritance
- Kittens inherit one parent’s dimensional type, separately from their class.
- Dimensional types survive taming, saving and revival.
- Existing cats remain ordinary; travelling between dimensions does not change a cat’s type.
-
Ancient Fish from fishing
- Ordinary cod and salmon catches have a default 5% chance to become their matching Ancient Fish.
- Separate configuration controls are available for each fish.
- Existing fish drops and randomly selected fisherman trades remain available.
Changed
-
Dyeable Cat Beds
- Craft a bed using two matching wool above two planks.
- All sixteen vanilla dye colors are supported.
- Recolor a bed in crafting, or use dye on your own placed bed without losing its home link.
-
Three-slot Food Bowls
- Bowls now have three usable food slots.
- When upgrading an old bowl, food from slots 4–9 is retained behind an owner-only “Recover stored food” button.
- Items that do not fit in your inventory remain stored for later recovery.
-
Habitat-aware cat spawn eggs
- Cat eggs create Nether Cats in Nether Crimson Forests and End Cats in eligible outer-End biomes.
- Elsewhere, they create ordinary cats.
- Includes dispenser eggs and egg-created kittens; ordinary breeding is unchanged.
Fixed
-
Improved Forge/NeoForge conversion of vanilla cats carrying other mods’ data.
- Supported data is transferred; otherwise, serialized recovery data is retained where possible.
- Failed capture or spawning still leaves the original cat intact.
- Data preservation does not guarantee another mod’s functionality.
-
Fixed a Forge 1.21.1 startup problem involving fish-drop loot integration.
-
Improved Fabric 1.21.1 configuration upgrades and saves when files experience brief access conflicts.
Compatibility
- Broadened compatible Forge and NeoForge loader ranges.
- Includes Forge 47.3.0 compatibility for Minecraft 1.20.1.
- Use the JAR and dependencies matching your exact Minecraft version and loader.
Upgrade and uninstall notes
Back up your world using your preferred method before upgrading.
Do not downgrade worlds saved with 2.1.0 to older mod versions. Before uninstalling, use the matching closed-world cat converter with Cozy still installed. It restores living tamed cats to vanilla-representable cats; dimensional abilities and custom appearances cannot remain after removal. Custom items and blocks are not converted.
Optional dependencies
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
