Changes
Added
- Sodium support. Covers are drawn through Sodium's own chunk-mesh pipeline exactly as they are through vanilla's, including connected-texture covers (Athena, Fusion, Chipped, Rechiseled, ...) and covers whose block draws in a different render pass than the mechanism, such as glass, leaves or iron bars.
Fixed
- Covered mechanisms no longer flicker or Z-fight with their cover. The cover is now baked directly into the chunk terrain mesh in place of the mechanism, instead of being drawn a second time every frame in the block-entity pass, so there is only ever one surface at that position.
- Fixed covers flickering and showing a shifting shadow artifact when shaders (Iris/OptiFine) are active. Because the cover is now ordinary terrain rather than a block entity, shaders light and shadow it exactly like every surrounding block instead of through their separate block-entity pass.
- Preserved biome tint on covers that use a tinted block (grass, leaves, water, ...); they now take their proper color in the terrain mesh instead of rendering flat/gray.
- Two adjacent covers that use a block which merges with itself, such as glass, no longer show a seam where they meet: the shared faces were being culled against the mechanism's shape rather than the cover's, so both got drawn.
- Fixed the coverable block tag failing to load entirely without Create: Encased, which left the mod inert - no block coverable at all, not even Create's own. Its Create: Encased entries are now optional. (1.0.3 claimed this fix but did not actually apply it.)
- Fixed a race that could corrupt a mechanism's stored cover or crash the client: simply reading whether a mechanism was covered also wrote to it, and that read happens from several chunk-build threads at once.
Changed
- Reduced the cost of the connected-texture support, which previously inspected every neighbouring block the chunk builder asked about rather than only the ones that can be covered.
Known issues
- Covers do not render with ModernFix's
mixin.perf.dynamic_resourcesoption enabled. That option is off by default in ModernFix; turn it off if you use this mod. Everything else, Sodium and Iris shaders included, is unaffected.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
