Create Grappling Hooks 1.1.0
A big update focused on multiplayer, swing feel, and stability. Everything that changed since 1.0.0:
🌐 Multiplayer
- Other players can now see your rope wrap and curve around blocks and airships — both while the hook is in mid-flight and while you're hanging. Works on normal terrain and on Create: Aeronautics physics platforms.
- Fixed the rope flickering / going invisible for other players while you were connected.
- Fixed the dual guns (one in each hand) so others see both ropes correctly.
🕸️ Swing & Movement
- Releasing now carries your momentum — the faster you swing, the farther you launch. This now works on right/left-click release, not only SPACE / CTRL+SPACE.
- Fixed the hook flying off at high speed when the rope wrapped around a corner — the rope now simply stops when fully extended instead of yanking the hook.
- SHIFT+S still reels the hook in manually to wrap it on purpose.
- Hanging from two hooks no longer bounces.
🔧 Fixes
- The double-barrel hook now falls naturally by gravity at max range instead of bouncing in place at your height.
- The hook no longer bugs out when fired past your loaded/simulation chunk distance.
- Fixed a rare crash when rendering the gun in first person (e.g. entering/leaving an airship).
🧩 Compatibility
- Added support for the Punchy mod — the guns no longer render twice when Punchy is installed. (Automatic; does nothing if you don't have Punchy.)
✅ Worlds
- Fully compatible with existing worlds — nothing in the save format changed.
⚠️ Known issues (planned for a future update)
I'm aware of these and actively working on them:
- The hook can still occasionally fly off when the rope wraps around an obstacle. Much rarer now, but not 100% gone.
- The rope only wraps around ONE physics platform at a time. If it crosses several separate floating Aeronautics platforms, it will only wrap/collide with one of them, not each.
- On airships, the very brief mid-flight wrap doesn't always sync to other players (the flight lasts under a second).
- On fast-rotating platforms, the rope can be dragged along with the rotation.
Thanks for playing — bug reports are welcome! 🪝
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
