2.0.0: the big rework
Portal guns
- Rick's Portal Gun and the Prototype are now one item each. They can swap fluids and change colour to match the one loaded. The separate blue, yellow, purple, red and template versions are gone.
- The D0 Gun, Rift Rifle and Spider-Verse Wristband are locked to their own fuel.
- Guns are crafted empty. Load one by using it with a vial (or a Dark Matter Capsule) in your other hand. Swapping out a full load gives you the vial back.
- Rift Rifle charge shot: hold use to charge, then let go for a giant rift that drags nearby mobs and items in. It uses three times the power.
- Every gun is now defined by a small JSON file, so addon mods can add guns without any Java.
Portal fluids
- Portal fluid is now brewed in a brewing stand:
- Redstone vial + dragon's breath → incomplete fluid
- Incomplete fluid + a dye → that colour (lime dye makes green)
- Green fluid + an echo shard → orb fluid
- Blue portals can't cross dimensions.
- Incomplete fluid works, but sets travellers on fire, withers them, and sometimes drops them somewhere near the destination instead.
- New Orb Portal Fluid: while it's loaded, Rick's gun and the Prototype get the advanced controls.
Upgrades
- Saved locations and isomorphic controls are now upgrades, and each gun unlocks them its own way:
- Rick's Portal Gun and the Prototype: load the orb fluid
- D0 Gun: fire 25 portals (saved locations) and 75 portals (isomorphic controls)
- Rift Rifle: open portals in 3 dimensions (saved locations) and install a Nether Star (isomorphic controls)
- Spider-Verse Wristband: isomorphic controls are built in; install a Location Module for saved locations
- The gun's tooltip shows what's unlocked and your progress towards the rest.
New features
- Recall key (G): opens a portal straight back to where your gun last fired from.
- Link mode: portals stay open for a minute, and each new pair replaces the last.
- Terminal in the gun's screen: type
x y z [dimension]to set a destination;coords, dims, dest, linkandrecallalso work. - Portal Gun Locator: finds guns you've dropped or lost when you died.
- Look at an open portal to see where it leads.
- Server config (
config/deos-portal-gun-mod.json): portal lifetimes, cooldowns, power use, the Blender Dimension, scatter, charged-rift pulling and gun tracking. - Field guide: an in-game Patchouli book, if Patchouli is installed.
- New sounds for loading, swapping, upgrading, charging and recall.
- Going through a portal now cancels fall damage.
Fixes
- Portals no longer lead to 0, 0, 0 after the world reloads.
- Changing the fluid on one gun no longer changes every gun of that type.
- The gun's screens always look the way they do at GUI scale 3, whatever your GUI scale setting.
- Portal fluid syncing to clients no longer runs on the network thread.
Moved
- CF's Rick Portal Gun, Donut's Portal Gun Jr, Blue's Sonic, CreNight's Aperture Portal Gun and Light's Remote (with the battery and the TV portal) are now in the separate Deo's Portal Gun Addons mod.
Heads up for old worlds
- Coloured gun variants and the addon guns from 1.x won't carry over.
- Guns that already had power keep working.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
