Changes
DirtyAliasing 1.1.0
Now available for Minecraft 1.20.1 – 26.3 on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge (30 builds; 1.0.0 was 1.20.1 Forge only).
FXAA — rewritten
- Proper FXAA Quality: contrast threshold, edge-end search, subpixel smoothing.
- Only smooths geometry edges, found from the depth buffer. Block textures stay crisp: texture detail went from ~82% to 100% of the no-AA image.
- The hand and held items are smoothed separately.
- Low-contrast edges such as clouds against the sky are smoothed too.
TAA — rewritten
- Reprojection without jitter, so no shimmering, including the sky.
- Nearest-depth history, variance clipping, Catmull-Rom sampling, motion-aware blending.
- Separate sharpening pass on surfaces only, not on silhouettes.
- Much less blur: texture detail is ~100% (was 66%), and edge error is 13–20% of the no-AA image (was 24%).
Upscale — now FSR 1
- Uses our own implementation of AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 1 (EASU + RCAS) instead of bicubic + CAS.
- The low-res frame gets FXAA before upscaling.
- Gives more FPS when you're GPU-bound (weak integrated graphics, 4K, shader packs).
New settings screen
- One simple settings screen on every version and loader, built from vanilla widgets.
- Press O in game to open it. You can rebind the key in Options → Controls → DirtyAliasing.
- A one-time chat hint tells you the key the first time you join a world.
- You can also open it from the mod list (Config button on Forge/NeoForge, Mod Menu on Fabric).
- Each mode has a tooltip explaining what it does.
- English and Russian translations.
- Cloth Config is no longer required.
Fixes
- The mod no longer breaks the game's OpenGL state after its passes.
- NeoForge 1.21.9+ / 26.x: effects silently didn't work.
- 1.21.9+ / 26.x: the game rejected the mod's
pack.mcmeta. - Forge 26.x and 1.20.5–1.20.6: crash on startup.
- Fabric 1.20.5–1.20.6: crash when leaving a world.
- Fabric 1.21.5+ without Fabric API: shaders weren't found.
- Fabric 1.21.2–1.21.4: GL state leak and missing hand in upscale mode.
Requirements
- Fabric API on Fabric 1.20.1 – 1.21.4 and 1.21.11.
- Nothing extra on Fabric 1.21.8 and 26.x, or on any Forge/NeoForge version.
- Mod Menu is optional.
- Java 17 (1.20.1–1.20.4), 21 (1.20.5–1.21.x), 25 (26.x).
Your settings from 1.0.0 are kept (config/dirtyaliasing.properties).
Optional dependencies
Any compatible version
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
