All notable changes to this continuation are documented here. Versioning follows
Semantic Versioning. The 2.x line is the community continuation of the
original DonutAuctions by JanCantCode.
[2.0.0] — Community continuation (maintained by Calann)
First release of the continued mod. Based on JanCantCode's DonutAuctions, picked up due to the original's inactivity. Big correctness pass plus new features.
Fixed
- Server detection was always true (
Math.random() < 5.0), so the mod fired auction API requests on every server and in singleplayer. It now only activates on DonutSMP. - Permanent "Loading..": non-200 responses / invalid JSON threw uncaught exceptions that killed the worker thread and left items stuck loading forever. Errors are now typed and surfaced.
- Unenchanted items never matched: the API returns
enchants.enchantments.levels = null, which the old matcher rejected — so most items showed "No Auctions Found". - Rate-limit (HTTP 429) storms: hovering a shulker fanned out into 27 simultaneous requests and each item paged deeply, blowing DonutSMP's 250/min limit. Now smoothed (≤180/min with 300 ms spacing), capped at 2 pages/item, transient errors keep partial results and retry after 15 s.
- Shulker value showed
$0while its contents were still loading or rate-limited. - Stack-size mispricing: bulk listings made single items read far too cheap (e.g. an ender pearl showing 54 instead of ~890). Items are now valued at their own stack size.
- Missing
Content-Type: application/jsonon the search request; API-key file now trimmed/validated.
Changed
- Enchantment-aware pricing via the server search string. DonutSMP's auction search filters by enchant terms, so the price reflects your exact enchants — the only way, since the API response itself carries no enchant data.
- Tooltip hook rewritten to use the Fabric
ItemTooltipCallbackevent instead of a fragile hard-coded mixin injection ordinal that breaks on Minecraft updates.
Added
- Container Value overlay — total auction value of an open chest/shulker/inventory.
- Mod Menu config screen — toggle the tooltip, per-item / per-shulker lines and the overlay.
- Mod icon, semantic versioning, and builds for Minecraft 1.21.8, 1.21.10, 1.21.11 (Fabric).
Optional dependencies
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
