Dynamic Nutrition
A realistic diet and nutrition mod based on real food data, where every food gives carbs, protein, fat, vitamins and minerals. Eating a varied diet and cooking your meals gives you effects for each nutrient, and it works with most food mods

Changes
A food finder, a preview of every meal, and a diet that reacts to how you play: what you do now decides which nutrients you burn, and a low-carb diet can take you into ketosis.
Food finder
Press the question mark on the nutrition screen, or click a nutrient, to open a new searchable list of foods.
- Pick a nutrient to see the foods with the most of it first
- With no nutrient picked, or from the star, the list shows the best foods for you right now: what fixes your low bars without overfilling the others, counting the repeat penalty
- Each row shows the food's full nutrient profile
- Foods that can harm you, such as Rotten Flesh, have their names in red
- Hovering a food shows its tooltip, and a setting in the Inventory tab turns that off
Meal preview
Hold a food to see what it would do before you eat it.
- The HUD strip fills in white up to where the meal would land
- The nutrition screen shows the same as a pale extension on each bar
- In the food finder, hovering a food marks where it would land on each nutrient
The setting is in the HUD tab.
What you do now matters
Food burned now draws on the nutrients your activity uses. The total stays the same, so this moves decay between nutrients rather than adding any.
- Running: carbs
- Swimming and diving: carbs and fat
- Fighting: protein
- Working with tools: minerals
- Healing: vitamins
- Cold biomes: fat
- Hot biomes and the Nether: vitamins and minerals
Caves and roofs keep the weather off you. Rowing and riding burn no food in vanilla, so they do not count. The strength is a setting in the new Hunger tab, and 0 turns it off.
Body temperature from survival mods
With one of these installed, your real body temperature decides whether you count as cold or hot instead of the biome, so clothing that keeps you warm or cool counts if the mod includes it. Tested with this release:
- Tough As Nails: Fabric 26.3, 26.1.2, 1.21.1 and 1.20.1; NeoForge 26.2, 1.21.11 and 1.21.1; Forge 1.20.1
- Cold Sweat: NeoForge 1.21.1, Forge 1.20.1
- Legendary Survival Overhaul: NeoForge 1.21.1, Forge 1.20.1
- Survive: NeoForge 1.21.1
- Frostiful: Fabric 26.1.2
Forge 1.20.1 was checked on a server that finds the mod and starts, not with a player reading a temperature. These mods on other versions or loaders have not been tested, and without a working reading the biome decides.
Ketosis
A full in-game day of low carbs with fat to spare turns your body to fat for fuel. Carbs barely fall, fat falls faster, low carbs stop slowing you, and meals keep you full for longer. Your fat percentage turns yellow while it lasts, and hovering it explains why. Eating real carbs ends it. It has its own setting.
Hunger settings
- Diet affects fullness: protein and fat keep you full for longer, and carbs run out sooner. On by default, 0 turns it off. A meat diet needs about 15% fewer meals in our simulation and a bread diet about 8% more
- Hunger drain speed: from 10% to 200% of normal. It stays at vanilla's speed unless you change it
AppleSkin
AppleSkin's saturation preview now shows what a meal will really give, including the settings above. Tested on Fabric 26.3, 1.21.1 and 1.20.1, NeoForge 26.2 and 1.21.1, and Forge 1.20.1. On a server the preview uses your own setting, not the server's.
Food values
- Coffee Delight's 34 coffee and cocoa drinks have real values, so a moka has carbs, fat and protein. Tested on NeoForge 1.21.1
- Five Crock Pot foods that had no values now have them
Fixes and changes
- The nutrition screen no longer drops the frame rate on 1.21.1: 42 fps became about 750 in our test, level with vanilla's options screen
- Nutrient amounts on the nutrition screen now read as percentages
- A setting in the Inventory tab turns off the effect list when hovering Well Nourished or Malnourished
- Cloth Config is now optional on Forge 1.21.1 and 1.21.11. Without it the mod runs on its defaults with no settings screen
- Older versions of Cloth Config now load instead of stopping the game: 11.0.99 and later on 1.20.1, 15.0.130 and later on 1.21.1
Optional dependencies
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
