Dynamic RPG HUD
Version 2.0.0 - Fabric - Minecraft Java 1.21.1 to 1.21.11 - Client-side - by Mr_Lan123
Dynamic RPG HUD turns the vanilla survival HUD into a clean, cinematic, RPG-style interface. Your hotbar, health, hunger, armor, air bubbles, experience bar and experience level quietly fade away while you do not need them and come back the moment something matters - and every single element can be moved, scaled and tuned in a built-in visual editor.
The mod never relocates the HUD on its own. Every element stays exactly where vanilla puts it unless you move it, so it stays compatible with other mods that draw next to or around the HUD (including the extra rows of absorption hearts, which no longer collide with the armor bar).
Features
Smart hiding
- Automatic mode (default): the HUD hides while you are idle at full health and hunger, and while you are moving.
- It reappears instantly when you change hotbar slot, change the held item, take damage, lose hunger or gain a status effect, then stays for 4 seconds.
- Hotkey mode: the HUD hides and shows only when you press a key (default H, rebindable in Controls).
Four hide animations
- Smooth fade-out via transparency (default) - smoothly fades out via opacity.
- Smooth slide down - smoothly moves downwards.
- Gradual shrink - gradually scales down in size.
- Instant hide - instantly disappears without any animation.
HUD layout editor
- Open it from the settings with Configure Elements.
- The game stays visible behind a dimmed, semi-transparent background, and every HUD element is shown as a box you can drag with the mouse.
- Click an element to open a small panel next to it: set its X / Y position (type the numbers) and its scale (slider or typed percentage), choose whether it stays visible when the rest of the HUD hides, or reset just that element.
- Positions are stored as offsets from the vanilla position (0 / 0 = default), so a shared layout looks the same on every screen size and GUI scale.
Settings
- Open them from Mod Menu (Configure button) or bind a key under Options > Controls > Key Binds > Dynamic RPG HUD (unbound by default).
- Choose the fade-out animation and the visibility trigger from clean, modern screens.
- Everything is saved in a single file,
config/dynamicrpghud.json.
Sharing your setup
Send your config/dynamicrpghud.json to a friend. They drop it into their own config folder,
replacing the old one, and restart the game - same layout, same animation, same settings.
Requirements
- Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1 - 1.21.11 (one jar per Minecraft version)
- Fabric Loader and Fabric API
- Mod Menu - optional, adds the settings button in the mod list
- Client-side only; do not install on servers
Notes
- Air bubbles are configurable on Minecraft 1.21.2 and newer.
- On Minecraft 1.21.6+, the experience bar slot is the contextual bar, so the locator bar and horse jump bar that share it follow the same settings.
- On Minecraft 1.21.6+ the game has no global GUI transparency; the fade-out is applied to the HUD sprites (bars and icons), while item icons and text in the hotbar disappear at the end of the fade. Use the shrink or slide animation if you prefer a perfectly uniform effect.

Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
