Mountain goats
Vanilla goats can now be tamed and ridden as mountain mounts. Their appearance, horns, screaming variants, milk, breeding and wild spawning are preserved.
- Tame an adult goat by riding it with an empty hand, then equip a saddle. Tamed goats have ten hearts and can be healed with wheat.
- Equip existing horse armour with models and textures made for goats in Blockbench, including dyeable leather and separate leather straps.
- Hold and release Space to use the native horse jump bar, rear and leap up to approximately 12 blocks. Goat-specific strength and forward momentum retain Minecraft's terrain and potion modifiers.
- Hold R to lower the head, then release to ram. The charge uses vanilla goat damage, knockback, sounds and horn breaking, stops at the first impact and respects PvP and team rules. A short tap cancels preparation.
- Ordinary mountain jumps protect both goat and rider from fall damage. Large drops remain dangerous. Wild and unmounted goats retain their ordinary jump strength.
- Saddles and armour persist, drop on death and can be recovered with shears while dismounted. Friends can ride an equipped goat.
Built for Minecraft 26.1.2, Fabric Loader 0.19.2 or newer, and Fabric API. Install the same mod version on the client and server.
Validation: 78 server GameTests and a real client/server play test covering the 12-block jump, safe landing, native jump rearing, movement, sprinting, short-R cancellation and mounted ramming.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
