Ghaster is a small data pack that makes named happy ghasts fly faster while a player is riding them. Give a happy ghast a name with a name tag, hop on, and it flies at a multiple of its normal speed. Hop off and it goes back to normal.
What it does
- Name a happy ghast one of the names below, using a name tag.
- While someone rides it, the ghast's flying and movement speed are multiplied.
- The boost ends as soon as the rider dismounts. Unridden ghasts are never affected.
- Only the ghast is changed. Nothing is applied to the player, and there are no new items, blocks or commands.
Speeds
Pick a tempo:
| Name | Tempo | Speed |
|---|---|---|
Adagio |
slow | 2x |
Allegro |
medium | 3x |
Presto |
fast | 4x |
Or name your ghast after a famous flyer:
| Name | Speed |
|---|---|
Pegasus |
2x |
Toothless |
3x |
Falkor |
4x |
Names are case-sensitive and must match exactly. A ghast with any other name is not boosted.
Install
- Download the zip and put it in your world's
datapacksfolder. On a server, use the world folder on the server. - Run
/reloadin game, or reopen the world. - Name a happy ghast and ride it.
Tested on Minecraft: Java Edition 1.21.11 through 26.3.
Good to know
- This is a data pack, so it works in singleplayer and on servers, with nothing to install on the client.
- Want to add your own ghast name? Edit
data/ghaster/function/tick.mcfunction. The README explains how.
