Granules 1.2: Deeper and Darker
Despite its name, Granules 1.2 actually provides absolutely nothing new to the Deep Dark, but has a lot of features that could otherwise be considered deep and dark. It's not nearly as massive as 1.1, but certainly enough new content to add for interesting interactions.
Below is the full list of new content added between builds 428 and 469.
Mobs
- Added the enderling as a pseudo-child of the enderman. They are shy and run away if looked at rather than attacking, though they may become hostile if approached.
- Added the endernymph as an adult stage to the endermite, only found from hatched infested obsidian. Unusually docile creatures by default, the endernymph can be fed three of most items in exchange for experience and possible uncrafted byproduct. Feeding them their favorite treat, the chorus fruit, may allow them to reproduce in a new form of obsidian found in the outer End and the Burrow.
- Added the bronze as a counterpart to the breeze and blaze for monster spawners, effectively making it the elemental of the Burrow, as the structure it's bound to, the monster room, is most common there. It drops bronze rods, which can be smelted into bullion to make new armor, tools, and machinery.
- Added the stalker as a creeper variant that spawns in the depths of caves. They like to stay out of sight, only exploding once you get close, or they get closer.
- Added the minister as a witch variant that spawns in its own mini-structure in dark forests, acting as a port of the Viler Witch from Minecraft Earth, inheriting most of its behavior from that game.
- Alongside the new mobs, some changes have been made to the old; naturally spawned witches may spawn on top of a cave spider as a jockey, and mobs of the same clad are less likely to retaliate against each other at higher difficulties.
The World
- Added the Obsidian Stratum cave biome to the Burrow, which comes with the new Throbbing Obsidian as well as Obsidian Shard blocks, all of which, including the original obsidian variants, can be used to make Obsidian Glass. It's just as strong as obsidian, but... as clear as glass!
- Infested End Spikes now spawn in the End highlands and midlands rather rarely.
- The night sky may rarely show an anomalous moon, with the default chance being 1 in 100. How many can you see?
- New music plays rarely in the outer End and in the Burrow. This is why the newer jar is so big compared to the previous version; this should have no impact on performance.
Blocks
Masonry
- Added brick and tile variants for cobblestone, mossy cobblestone, netherrack, and calcite, including cracked variants, matching stairs, slabs, and walls.
- Added glass panels as a form of glass trapdoor; also comes in stained varieties.
- Added doors and trapdoors to a few materials: smooth stone, diorite, andesite, granite, tuff, sulfur, cinnabar, cobblestone, mossy cobblestone, deepslate, cobbled deepslate, sandstone, red sandstone, netherrack, Nether brick, and End stone.
- All doors, vanilla and Granules, have been updated to hold a view model rather than the door sprite (both for convenience and style).
- Updated handling for rotated walls and fences.
- Added orientation support for workstations, including their enchanted varieties.
Experience Bank
- An experience bank can be crafted with a sculk catalyst, lapis, cobblestone, and an iron ingot. Sneaking on it deposits experience unless powered; then the machine is set to withdraw.
Bronze
- Bronze Rods may be smelted into Bronze Bullion, which can be used to make armor and tools comparable to mid-iron to diamond, with the bonus of defense against hostile mobs.
- Added the Bronze Spewer and Bronze Billow, made with bronze bullion, iron ingots, and a blaze or breeze rod, respectively. The spewer heats dropped items to smelt over time, including setting those caught in it ablaze, as well as the billow, which pushes (or pulls, if powered) items away.
- Added the Bronze Coffer, a "localized Ender Chest" which cannot be destroyed through normal means unless all players remove their items from it. An admin may set the block to air if it needs to be removed.
- Added rails constructed of the various elemental rods; bronze rails prevent deceleration, blaze rails can multi-track drift, and breeze rails give a speed boost without redstone power. Above all else, every single one of these new rails can stand on its own.
Utility
- Wooden armor, including cosmetically different crowns for each vanilla Overworld wood type, has been added. Crowns neutralize the creaking and creepers while worn.
- Set bonuses now apply to all vanilla armor before diamond.
- Wooden tools have been given quadruple the durability.
- Added equipment tooltips for various items in the mod that were otherwise obtuse.
- The obsidian compass reintroduces the original behavior of the compass.
- Cooked Tropical Fish. Nuff said.
- Somnosatchels now require an empty Bundle to be used in crafting, to prevent quick-crafting and getting sad that you just lost a full bundle of items.
- Added the wrench to rotate blocks, so long as it would normally be eligible for placement with that orientation (with some additional mileage for certain multiblocks).
Balance
- Unprotected sleep may result in a rude awakening, scaling with greater difficulties. Craft the charter and shift-click your bed to discern the root cause of this. This could range from the dark, the loud, or the infested.
- Hearthearth has been made more forgiving with spawns.
- Green Tea has had its saturation rebalanced.
Fixes
- Fixed a bug where Visual Workbench was overriding the Enchanted Smithing Table UI
Optional dependencies
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
