Changes
[CHANGELOG] Version 1.3.0 (NeoForge)
Themes, External Libraries, Hotfix
๐ ๏ธ Changes:
- External Library Download โ FFmpeg, JavaCPP and JavaCV are no longer bundled inside the mod JAR. They are now downloaded at runtime from an external source, and the correct build is chosen automatically based on the player's operating system (Windows, macOS or Linux).
- Faster First Launch Setup โ Libraries are fetched once and cached locally. Subsequent launches skip the download entirely.
- Updated Library Extractor โ
JavaCvResourceExtractornow copies only the required JARs (ffmpeg, javacpp, javacv and their platform-specific natives) into the cache folder instead of the full suite. - Build Configuration Cleanup โ Removed platform-specific native libraries from
build.gradle; the mod no longer ships any native binaries directly. - Theme System โ Fully JSON-driven UI theming. Custom themes live in
config/guide/themes/, support per-book overrides viabook.json("theme": "<id>"), and can be globally locked throughconfig/guide-client.toml(locked_theme). - Six New Built-in Themes โ
blood, forest, cyberTech, matrix, sakuraandhoney. Each theme ships with its own color palette and matching visual effect. - Built-in Visual Effects โ Each theme can enable exactly one animated effect to avoid visual artifacts:
bloodEffectsโ screen shake, border pulse, red flashes.forestEffectsโ wind, rustling leaves, green highlights.cyberTechEffectsโ neon lines, flicker.matrixEffectsโ falling characters, green glow.sakuraEffectsโ pink petals, gentle sway.honeyEffectsโ warm tones, animated honey drops and bees.
- Hot-Reload for Themes โ Edit any theme file on disk and run
/guide reloadto apply changes instantly, without restarting the game. - Per-Book Theme Overrides โ Any book can force its own theme via the
themefield inbook.json. The book theme has priority over the global theme and is restored when the book is closed. - Full Feature Parity with Forge 1.5.0 โ The NeoForge branch now ships the same feature set as Forge: themes, visual effects, per-book overrides and hot-reload support.
๐ง Improvements:
- Smooth Theme Interpolation โ Panels, borders, scrollbars and text now interpolate colors smoothly when switching themes.
- Translation-Aware Theme Names โ Theme
displayNamesupports translation keys with fallback to per-book lang files, shared cache and built-in mod lang. - JDK 21 Support โ Build and runtime now target Java 21 to match NeoForge 21.1 requirements.
- NeoForge 21.x Migration โ Updated to the latest NeoForge modding conventions.
๐ Fixes:
- Reduced JAR Size โ Mod file size cut down from 40+ MB to 9+ MB by removing bundled native libraries and unused resources from the mod archive.
- Compatibility with Upload Limits โ The smaller JAR now fits within strict platform upload limits without any loss of functionality.
- No Functional Changes โ All features work exactly as before. Only the packaging of native libraries was changed.

Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
