Changes
Performance and stability
- Exploring new terrain is noticeably smoother, especially in areas that generate oil deposits or old missile silos.
- Large underground oil deposits no longer waste time checking huge areas where oil could never appear.
- Surface oil patches stay within a safe area and no longer force distant chunks to generate unexpectedly.
- Legacy missile silos now appear in smaller steps while nearby chunks load, reducing long world generation freezes.
- Reduced unnecessary work and data updates during orbital travel.
- Fixed a client timing problem that could cause delayed space data, visual jumps, or rare crashes.
- Dedicated servers can load the space content without touching client-only rendering code.
Space travel
- Reworked travel between Earth, orbit, the Moon, and other celestial bodies to make transfers reliable.
- Rockets no longer remain stuck just above the ground, circle in orbit forever, or jump back toward the planet they already left.
- A rocket is transferred only once and keeps the same identity, preventing duplicate or abandoned rocket entities.
- The pilot remains inside the rocket during dimension changes and arrives at the same position as the rocket.
- Orbital travel no longer rewinds when an older update reaches the client late.
- Stage separation and capsule travel now follow the intended route without sudden backwards transitions.
- Rockets remain visible in third-person view throughout launch, orbital travel, separation, and landing.
- Rocket lighting now reacts to the surrounding day, night, and planetary light while keeping proper shape and shadows in flight.
- Fixed abrupt lighting changes during launch, stage separation, and touchdown.
- Rocket exits, capsule pickup, and landing behavior remain reliable after space travel.
World generation
- Oil fields keep their original appearance and rarity while generating with safer limits.
- Oil sand deposits keep their original size, shape, and chance while generating much more efficiently.
- The original legacy missile silo is preserved with its rooms, launch pad, doors, redstone, containers, loot, and random concrete details.
- The
/hbm gen siloand/hbm gen silo_shaftcommands continue to generate the legacy silo for testing or creative building.
Notes
- No radiation, weapon, JEI, or rocket flight physics were changed as part of these optimizations.
- Existing worlds remain supported. New world generation improvements apply when previously unexplored chunks are created.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
