Movement
One of the big problems with my movement system was that when you double jumped, it would remove all of your momentum. To counter that I made it shoot you forward a bit. That was also a problem, for some people might not want to be shot forward. The fix was pretty easy, and i'm gonna walk you through how I did so.
FIRST VERSION
In my code, I had kept the X position and Z position 0. Which stopped your movement. Then, I added some blocks that finds where you are looking, and shoots you that way with the power set to 2. That was my temporary fix.
SECOND VERSION
The problem was primarily just conveniency. It isnt very convenient for you to double jump forward or stop moving mid-air. So, (since im still learning) I found about using delta to figure out players speed and momentum. Using delta I can just say:
X delta movement of Entity/target event
Z delta movement of Entity/target event
This was something I just learned, that will not only help me in the future, but also fixed BOTH problems. Now, instead of stopping mid-air you keep moving if you were moving before you double jumped. It also made it so I dont need to make you shoot forward at all. The speed effect DOES affect the outcome. If you have speed you will move forward faster when you double jump.
EXTRA
Beside fixing that problem, I made it to you can only dash if your on the ground. I may change that, and fix the problem with dashing. Which is that sometimes it works and other times it doesnt. I think I know the problem, so ill try to fix it in version 1.2.0 I will also try to release it on more versions as well as more modloaders.
Thats it! I hope you enjoy my mod!
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
