Changes
First release — everything included in v1.7.1
Core mechanic
- R key toggles the mode on/off (rebindable in Options → Controls)
- Every block placement randomly swaps whatever you're holding for a different block from your hotbar
- Works in any game mode — Creative and Survival alike
Stability
- Fixed inconsistent block swapping: added a network packet
(
ServerboundSetCarriedItemPacket) that syncs the client and server on which slot is selected — without it, the wrong block would sometimes get placed - Placement detection reworked to reliably work in Creative mode too (where item count doesn't change on placement)
Feedback and UI
- On-screen badge in the bottom-right corner — shows while the mode is active
- Toggle sound (higher pitch when turning on, lower when turning off)
- Overlay message above the hotbar on toggle — green for "on", red for "off"
Visual style
- Custom mod icon — "BLOCK SHUFFLE" logo
- The activity badge went through a few iterations: from plain squares to a polished bordered panel with a soft shadow, matching the icon's style
Technical foundation
- Built from scratch for Minecraft 26.2 (official mappings, no legacy Yarn dependency)
- Fully client-side — nothing changes on the server
The original idea is a long-known building concept ("block shuffling"), independently implemented by a few different mods over the years. This implementation was written from scratch.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
