hi! It has been a really long time about an 8 month break, actually! College and classes got incredibly busy, so I had to put modding on hold for a bit to focus on my studies. School actually just ended for me about a week ago, so I finally have the free time to focus on modding again. I will be sure to keep pumping out more updates and working on completing the Ruin Guard even further over the coming weeks. just wanted to drop an early update because might aswell!
Here is what's new in this version:
New Entity: The Ruin Guard! It is a massive mechanical defender with custom AI, animations, and unique behaviors depending on how it spawns.
Sentry Modes (Spawn Types) When a Ruin Guard spawns in your world, it randomly chooses one of three patrol behaviors:
Wander Mode (Patrol Type 0): The Ruin Guard goes on a long-distance search. It locks onto a direction and marches in a steady, structured path across the terrain rather than pacing back and forth.
Stationary Sentry Mode (Patrol Type 1): A defensive guard mode. The Ruin Guard anchors itself to its spawn location and paces in a wide, circular perimeter to secure the area.
Sleeping Sentry Mode (Patrol Type 2): It starts completely deactivated, sitting silently as an inactive prop. If you get too close or attack it, its core powers up, it runs through a startup sequence, and it defends itself. Once the area is safe again, it waits out a cooldown and goes back to sleep.
Ruin Guard Spawn Egg: Sneak rightclicking the egg in the air cycles through Wander (Aqua), Stationary (Gold), and Inactive (Green) modes. The egg's tooltip updates dynamically, and you'll get a colored chat message confirming the mode before you place the entity down.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
