Ice Caves Backport 0.1.7 — Snapshot 5
New content
- Added Packed Ice Bricks, Packed Ice Brick Slabs, Stairs and Walls, and Chiseled Packed Ice, using the snapshot's textures, block properties and drops.
- Added all 14 crafting and stonecutting recipes, recipe unlocks, and the What Goes Around Comes Around advancement for killing a Frostbite with an Ice Ball.
- Added the 23 ambient ice sound samples and the snapshot's water, air and surrounding-ice requirements.
- Added the new full blocks to the fast-sliding Sulfur Cube tag on versions that support Sulfur Cubes.
Fixes and parity updates
- Fixed upside-down floor icicle tips and stems on older Minecraft versions. Snapshot rotations and shading are translated into formats those versions understand.
- Fixed missing icicle block and item textures, while retaining transparent cutout rendering.
- Fixed Forge 1.20.1 bypassing the new vanilla ice sound families during placement, mining, breaking, walking and landing.
- Frostbites now require sky access outside Ice Caves, preventing them from spawning in ordinary underground caves beneath cold surface biomes.
- Preserved Frostbite poison and regeneration immunity across older effect systems.
- Updated 26.3 mob-projectile adventure permissions while retaining mob-griefing restrictions.
- Updated crevasse placement to snapshot 5's settings; retained safeguards against leaking water into open caverns.
- Added Ice Caves to the ruined-portal and stronghold biome tags.
- Updated our NeoForge 26.2+ icon metadata. Deprecated metadata warnings from other libraries in development runs are not release-installation errors.
- Added version-specific recipe, advancement and loot compatibility checks across every supported release build.
- Matched the snapshot's slab explosion-drop behavior without applying explosion survival twice.
Ice Caves retain the snapshot's climate limits; there is no intentional one-chunk size cap. Biome placement and cavern shape vary with the world seed and Minecraft version.
Supported versions
Fabric and NeoForge: 26.3, 26.2, 26.1.2, 1.21.11 and 1.21.1. Fabric and Forge: 1.20.1.
New content uses minecraft: registry IDs. World-generation changes affect newly generated chunks; existing terrain is not rewritten. Back up important worlds before updating.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
