Kenny 8.0.0
Kenny 8.0.0 rebuilds the horror campaign from Day 1 to the final battle in The End. Stalking, supplies, anomalies, combat, multiplayer, and dimension travel now form one continuous experience that remains consistent through deaths, reconnects, and server restarts.
Added
- Added a complete campaign from the first Day 1 warning through WATCH, HUNT, The End, and permanent victory.
- Added an 11-second opening delay after the first player joins before the Day 1 introduction begins.
- Added personal supply deliveries for every player, followed by a 25-second calm period before danger resumes.
- Added sleep encounters, wake-up traps, environmental anomalies, ambient scares, and randomized hunt warnings.
- Added a rare diagonal sky throw that can launch a player approximately 200 blocks upward.
- Added a vertical breach attack when Kenny detects his target directly below him. Kenny breaks a 4-block-wide path up to 3 blocks deep and stops as soon as the target is no longer underneath.
- Added a 4x4 tower-jump landing smash followed by fireball and TNT pressure.
- Added stronger obstacle clearing to help Kenny escape walls and cramped structures without destroying the floor beneath him.
- Added a dedicated End encounter, Ender Dragon battle behavior, victory sequence, and campaign rewards.
- Added English and Indonesian messages.
- Added a categorized configuration screen and the
/kenny resetcommand.
Changed
- Only one Kenny can be active across the server at a time.
- Multiplayer targeting is fairer and follows Kenny's current valid target.
- Every multiplayer player receives their own supply; a late join no longer interrupts an encounter already in progress.
- Creative players can experience the story, WATCH events, supplies, and anomalies, but Kenny will not select them as a HUNT target. Spectators are excluded.
- Day 1 can begin when any non-spectator player is present.
- Time commands can no longer skip the final Day 1 WATCH warning.
- The fourth Day 1 WATCH event now has its own warning text, and HUNT spawns use varied threat messages.
- Kenny's combat flow now combines melee attacks, the existing seven-hit throw, the rare sky throw, fireballs, TNT, mob kicks, jumps, swimming, and obstacle breaking.
- The normal seven-hit throw keeps its original strength and timing.
- Kenny's base melee damage increased from 43 to 44 before campaign scaling.
- Block destruction respects
mobGriefing, protected blocks, world borders, and loaded terrain. Destroyed containers and valuable blocks now drop their contents. - Slabs, stairs, carpets, trapdoors, scaffolding, and other partial floors are better protected from accidental anti-stuck destruction.
- Kenny uses safer spawn positions and will not force unloaded terrain to load.
- Entering The End while Kenny is waiting after a death starts the End encounter within 5 seconds. An active encounter also transfers quickly when its target enters The End.
- Survival and Adventure players in The End receive priority for the End encounter.
- Campaign timing remains consistent when the server is empty or restarted.
- Resetting the campaign now clears active encounters, delayed events, temporary effects, and previous victory progress.
Fixed
- Fixed duplicate Kenny spawns during deaths, respawns, dimension changes, chunk loading, and server restarts.
- Fixed Kenny disappearing or becoming permanently inactive after a chunk unload or restart.
- Fixed the post-death encounter delay being consumed by the first fatal hit, causing Kenny to return too quickly.
- Fixed the respawn timer restarting from the initial join delay instead of the intended death cooldown.
- Fixed The End encounter sometimes taking too long to begin after a player returned there.
- Fixed late-joining players despawning Kenny or pausing the campaign for everyone else.
- Fixed Creative players being unable to receive campaign progress and supplies.
- Fixed old targets, warnings, sounds, and effects continuing after logout, death, teleportation, or dimension travel.
- Fixed delayed events from a previous campaign firing after
/kenny reset. - Fixed Day and objective messages being missed during joins or campaign transitions.
- Fixed duplicate, partial, or interrupted supply deliveries, including deliveries spanning a restart.
- Fixed supply grace periods ending incorrectly after a server restart.
- Fixed WATCH events counting invalid sightings or triggering through solid walls.
- Fixed Kenny becoming stuck while following an invalid or unreachable target.
- Fixed tower jumps ending before the landing smash and follow-up attacks completed.
- Fixed vertical breaching continuing after the player was no longer below Kenny.
- Fixed failed fireball or TNT launches consuming an attack cooldown.
- Fixed Ender Dragon targeting and explosions interfering with Kenny's encounter.
- Fixed false End victories and duplicate, stacked, or disappearing victory rewards.
- Fixed hostile behavior continuing during or after the victory sequence.
- Fixed configuration changes being partially saved or unexpectedly resetting active timers.
- Reduced unnecessary background work while Kenny is inactive.
Removed
- Removed old overlapping encounter behavior that could create duplicate spawns or conflicting targets.
- Removed obsolete settings that no longer affected gameplay.
- Simplified
/kennyto the supported reset command.
Notes
- Existing Kenny 7.0.0 worlds and settings are upgraded automatically.
- Defeating the Ender Dragon during Kenny's End campaign permanently ends his hostility for that world. Use
/kenny resetto begin again. - Back up important worlds before installing a major update.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
