LiveBuddy v0.4.0 - Road to Stability
v0.4.0 focuses on improving the unnatural behaviors most noticeable during normal solo play, making Buddy more reliable to travel with.
Changes
Internal Architecture Overhaul
Buddy's action decision-making has been centralized into a single coordinator.
The priority chain across all tasks (sleep, combat, farming, grading, chopping, etc.) is now organized in one place, making task switching and conflict resolution more stable.
Duplicate processing has also been reduced to lower tick overhead.
From a user perspective, task interruptions, resumptions, and post-Apply switches now behave more naturally.
Sleep Stabilization
- Switching to FOLLOW mode at night will now immediately wake a sleeping Buddy.
- Reworked the morning wake-up flow to fix cases where the sleep pose was not properly reset.
- Fixed stale sleep state persisting after world load.
Farming Improvements
- Added sugar cane harvesting. Buddy breaks the second block of sugar cane that has grown to height 2 or above, leaving the root (height 1) intact for natural regrowth.
Grading Improvements
- When stuck, Buddy now scans for the next target more quickly.
- Revised the sky light check so that grading works more reliably indoors and in caves.
Combat Improvements
- Attack cooldown adjusted to sword equivalent (approx. 13 ticks).
- Buddy now maintains its target until the enemy is defeated, becomes unreachable, or a timeout elapses.
- Fixed combat being interrupted too early while in FOLLOW mode.
Other Fixes
- Fixed an issue where reassigning a task mid-execution could cause Buddy to continue the previous task instead of switching to the new one.
- Buddy now moves toward the target tree before starting to chop (further improvements planned).
- Fixed equipment slot background frames not rendering correctly.
Known Issues
Houses with Doors
Buddy can navigate to targets such as farms in open layouts without doors.
In houses with doors, Buddy may stop at the door or at the nearest wall.
Explicit door-opening support is planned for v0.5.0.
Other
- Chopping behavior is still being improved.
- Vanilla mode removal is planned for v0.5.0.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
