The Devourer — Boss Improvements
Abilities reworked:
Ground Slam — now fires 12 expanding obsidian + soul particle rings that ripple outward with a delay, dealing Confusion to players as each ring passes. Knockback scales with distance. Damage increased to 16. Shadow Barrage — replaced with 42 shulker bullets in three stacked rings (10/14/18) fired at different heights with an upward arc so bullets travel through the air before hitting. Three layered sounds. Tendril Lash — now fires 10 tendrils simultaneously in a full 360° spread, staggered 3 ticks apart. All 10 tick independently. Each tendril that catches a player heals the Devourer for 10 HP. Ground Stomp — now rare (1/16 weighted chance). Mobs spawn 20 ticks apart with purple portal particle bursts on each spawn and a trailing particle effect for 3 seconds. Falls back to Ground Slam if ceiling clearance is too low. Summon Burst — now spawns 2-3 mobs (was 1-2), player search range doubled to 64 blocks for tight areas. 20% chance to also spawn an Obsidian Colossus with explosion particles. Void Cage — removed. Void Pull — removed. New weighted ability system — Ground Slam is most common, Ground Stomp is rare, all others are balanced between.
Multi-player improvements:
Target switches to a random nearby player every 5 seconds Ability cooldown scales down with player count (minimum 40 ticks) Only one Devourer can spawn per dimension — second bait placement during active fight is ignored bossSpawned flag prevents double-spawn within a session
Stats increased:
HP: 800 (up from 600) Attack: 20 (up from 18) Speed: 0.18 (up from 0.16) Enrage speed: 0.26, attack: 28 Base ability cooldown reduced to 60 ticks
Water vulnerability — takes 3 damage every 10 ticks in water, panics and boosts speed. Splash/lingering water bottles deal up to 10 magic damage in 4-block radius to all End mobs!
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
