Changes
Mobile Networks 4.0.1
For Minecraft 1.21.1 / NeoForge, requiring Simple Voice Chat.
New And Improved
- Independent four-bar reception. Signal bars now depend on distance within each technology band, rather than being fixed by the connection type. Enjoy full H+ reception or weak one-bar 5G. 5G+ and 5G share their bar range and may fluctuate at the weakest reception without adding or losing bars.
- Call mini-panel status. The translucent call preview now shows the in-world time, four reception bars, the current technology and roaming status. It stays centred on the left at a fixed size across GUI scales, and reuses existing status updates without extra server queries or network traffic.
- E+ migration. E+ is now E. Existing antenna, network, plan and roaming settings migrate automatically without deleting networks or shrinking the maximum antenna range.
- Unlimited linked Gram accounts. The old five-account cap is gone. The account dropdown loads bounded pages and supports mouse-wheel navigation forwards and backwards.
- More wheel navigation. Scroll network lists, server administration, operator plans, beneficiaries, player permissions, roaming settings, included players, carrier plans and Gallery with the mouse wheel.
- Optional vanilla text chat. Disabled by default. Singleplayer settings
include an English/Spanish roleplay warning before enabling it. Dedicated
servers control it through
config/mobilenetworks-gameplay.toml. Server policy wins; differing local preferences do not block joining. - Underwater reception loss. A shallow dive sharply weakens reception; a few blocks deeper mean no service even beside an antenna. Calls, data and automatic network selection all respect this restriction.
Fixes Retained From The First 4.0.1 Build
- Antennas and server blocks drop their item with stone-tier or better pickaxes. Better pickaxes mine faster.
- Persistent automatic network selection below Scan for networks, with permitted-network fallback and existing roaming/plan limits.
- Lightweight background coverage monitoring and unavailable-network notices without opening the phone.
Compatibility
- Update both the server and every client to this revised 4.0.1 build. The networking protocol changed from the first 4.0.1 build. Previous JARs are kept separately; this four-bar correction keeps protocol 13.
- Existing worlds, subscriptions, phone numbers and Gram accounts are preserved.
- English and Spanish remain supported, including automatic language selection.
- Original call sounds and textures are unchanged. Voice still uses its existing UDP port, normally 24454.
- Coverage queries remain cached, bounded and restricted to already-loaded chunks. Gram accounts are paged to avoid oversized packets.
Optional dependencies
Any compatible version
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
