Monster Origins v1.1.0 — first official release
Four origins for Origins: Arachne, Medusa, Harpy, and Mermaid. This is the first tagged release, so the notes below cover the mod's full feature set rather than a diff against a previous version.
Arachne — fragile, fast, venomous
- Climbs any surface 1.65x faster than normal, crafts and traverses cobwebs freely, carnivore diet,
- poison immune.
- Dangerous creatures glow once spotted. Every arthropod (spiders, cave spiders, silverfish,
- endermites) is friendly until attacked.
- +35% base movement speed. 85% height/width. 6 hearts, light natural armor.
- Attacks poison for 10 seconds (undead immune). Scuttle (secondary key): a 4 second Speed IV
- burst, 15 second cooldown, burns food fast while active.
- No fall damage under 10 blocks; 52% damage above that.
- Weak to water and fire. Naturally sheds silk.
- Fang / Venomfang / Widowfang: a three tier dagger line with its own hand drawn icon, tiered
- Poison/Bleed/Wither on hit, upgraded iron → diamond (crafting table) → netherite (smithing
- table).
- Silk Net Shooter: a throwable web trap weapon.
Medusa — tanky, dreadful, slow
- 12 hearts, 8 armor, carnivore diet, permanent night vision, immune to fall damage, immune to her
- own Slowness/Mining Fatigue.
- Petrifying Bite: unarmed or Petrifying Trident hits briefly turn the target to stone.
- Stone Gaze: nearby hostiles (and iron golems) are periodically petrified just for getting
- close. Stone Gaze Burst (secondary key): a bigger petrify blast on demand, hits villagers and
- golems too.
- Iron golems attack her on sight; villagers refuse to trade and flinch away in fear.
- Petrifying Trident: a vanilla-stat trident that petrifies on any hit, thrown or melee.
- Serpent Aegis: a real shield. Blocking reflects half the damage back at the attacker and
- slows them; nearby allies take half damage while she's blocking. Immune to Ghast fireballs.
Harpy — aerial skirmisher
- True permanent flight, no elytra needed. Holding forward builds speed up to 300% of normal elytra
- speed (quick ramp up, tapering near the cap); holding back brakes hard; letting go drifts the
- speed back down.
- Never takes fall damage. 8 hearts, light frame, can't use a shield.
- Talons: unarmed hits deal bonus damage and cause Bleed (a new damage over time effect that,
- unlike Poison, can actually kill), with even more bonus damage the faster she's flying.
- Eats raw meat/rotten flesh safely, no Hunger penalty. Weak to fire.
- Storm Trident: a proper 3D throwing spear built on real Trident geometry. Causes Bleed on any
- hit and a thrown hit that lands calls down a real lightning strike with area damage (30 second cooldown).
Mermaid — aquatic support and crowd control
- Breathes, sees, and mines at full speed underwater. Can stay dry for 5 minutes before
- suffocating (a HUD bar tracks the countdown once it starts ticking).
- higher swim speed with responsive steering, 0.8x walking speed on land. Weak to fire.
- Mermaid's Call (primary key): a real singing sound effect that buffs everyone nearby
- (Saturation + Regeneration) while charming, slowing, blinding, and weakening any hostiles caught
- in it.
- Riptide (secondary key): a quick forward dash, matching real Riptide III's push strength.
- Every sea creature (including Drowned and Guardians) is friendly unless attacked first.
- Mining coral bare handed gets the live block instead of the usual dead coral drop; killing fish
- has a small chance to drop an extra Prismarine Shard.
- Living Coral Trident: a late game weapon on real Trident geometry — heals on hit, bonus
- damage against wet targets, Bleed while swimming, and +1 block reach.
General
- Every Trident style weapon (Storm Trident, Living Coral Trident, Petrifying Trident) now renders
- as full 3D geometry when held, thrown, or stuck in a target, and as a flat icon in the hotbar and
- when dropped — matching vanilla's own real Trident behavior.
- Loyalty and the enchantment glint now work correctly on all three of those weapons.
- Every origin-gated weapon spells out exactly what it does and who it's for right in its tooltip.

Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
