Changes
The Server & Stability update aims to bring Mystcraft Reborn to a higher standard of reliability and scalability for public servers. Many core systems have been overhauled to be more reliable and predictable. This update also fixes longstanding bugs related to the editing table. Now, editing table parameters have significantly more consistent results.
Numerous commands have been added in this update. They will be detailed in the official Mystcraft Wiki (COMING SOON!). This update was going to release alongside the wiki, but beta 1.5 had some stability issues so I rushed this one out asap.
CHANGELOG:
Ages and world generation
- Overhauled the Age system with ownership, active and stored Ages, and commands to list, inspect, activate, and deactivate them. Inactive Ages can be unloaded while keeping their terrain and builds saved.
- Added optional managed multiplayer rules for Age ownership limits, switching cooldowns, and storage limits. Disabled by default; when enabled, ordinary players default to three owned Ages, one active Age, a 30-minute switching cooldown, and a 384 MB storage cap per Age.
- Storage limits stop new terrain from generating while keeping existing terrain accessible, editable, and saveable. Operators can raise the cap or exempt individual Ages.
- New Ages now receive their own saved random seed and retain their generation settings across restarts.
- Reworked terrain relief, cave density, biome size, and generation height controls. Selected biomes have distinct regions, and biome size adjusts their scale separately from terrain relief.
- Updated cave worlds to have an enclosed ceiling and no skylight. Flat worlds generate flat terrain at Y=0. Unspecified sea level now defaults to 63, capped below the generation ceiling.
- Added a Create Age / Cancel confirmation before generating an Age. Opening or cancelling an unused descriptive book creates nothing.
- Added Age deletion protection, ownership checks for deletion, and evacuation of players before an Age is removed. Operators can separately clean up retired Age files to reclaim disk space.
Books and tables
- Added book tooltips when looking at occupied slots in chiseled bookshelves, making stored books easier to identify without removing them.
- Editing Table ingredients can now be changed through datapacks. Alternate ingredients can contribute to the same setting, with excess ingredients left in the table.
- Added Editing Table tooltips explaining each generation control and clarified the Terrain Relief label.
- Fixed a book bag duplication exploit. Bag contents now save as they change, and the open bag cannot be moved out of its inventory slot.
- Fixed failed or cancelled links changing the active Age, starting a switching cooldown, or updating the Rewind Book. Failed book travel also avoids transporting nearby mobs or playing success sounds.
- Linking books are no longer destroyed merely because an Age is in cold storage or temporarily unavailable.
- Improved descriptive book screen updates after creation so the new Age title and linking action appear without reopening the book.
- Improved Printing Table image imports and media exports, including clearer failure messages and safeguards against changed inputs, duplicate book returns, and simultaneous exports overwriting files.
Server administration
- Added persistent settings and /mystcraft policy commands for managed mode, storage caps, switching cooldowns, and owned-Age limits.
- Added a persistent biome blacklist for new Ages. Blocked biomes are hidden from Writing Desk choices; existing Ages and imported Age definitions are unchanged.
- Added the MystcraftOP role for delegated Mystcraft administration. Server policy changes, ownership assignment, and deletion protection require a server operator; MystcraftOP cannot delete another player's Age.
- Importing images from URLs and exporting media to server files now require MystcraftOP or server operator permission.
- Added stricter checks for book, table, camera, and media interactions to reduce multiplayer exploits and oversized uploads.
- Corrected release packaging so the required Infiniverse dependency is included in the main mod JAR.
Updating:
- Update clients and servers together. Back up your world before upgrading. Legacy Ages are recorded as unowned; server operators can assign them with /mystcraft age setOwner <id> <player>.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
