Neo Guan Niao - Bird Watching Mod
Neo Guan Niao is a Minecraft mod that introduces a living bird ecosystem to the game.
Unlike traditional pet mods, Neo Guan Niao focuses on creating a world where birds behave like real creatures: they have unique behaviors, habitats, appearances, individual traits, and growth processes.
Observe, feed, tame, breed, and care for birds as you build your own connection with the wildlife around you.
๐ Introduction
Neo Guan Niao is an unofficial NeoForge remake and expansion of the original Guaniao mod.
After being redesigned for Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge, the mod introduces many new ecological systems:
- New modular bird behavior architecture
- Individual bird data system
- Bird egg and breeding system
- Nest and incubation system
- Bird guide system
- Birdbath interaction system
- Bird food bag growth control system
- Feather economy system
- Bird researcher villager trades
- Bird watching achievement system
- Expanded bird collection and observation gameplay
The goal of Neo Guan Niao is to make birds more than decorative creatures โ they are living parts of the Minecraft world.

๐ฆ Diverse Bird Species
Currently included:

Every bird is unique.
Birds have their own:
- Gender
- Individual size
- Feather color and skin
- Model variation
- Growth state
- Genetic traits
Offspring may inherit traits from their parents or develop mutations, creating unique birds for your collection.

Some birds can form pairs and reproduce.
Bird eggs store information such as:
- Bird species
- Feather color
- Gender
- Size
- Hatching time
- Genetic data
Some rare skins can only be obtained through breeding, encouraging players to develop their own bird collections.

Bird nests are not just decorative blocks โ they are part of the bird ecosystem.

- Automatic egg laying
- Egg management
- Natural incubation process
Birds can reproduce in a more natural way instead of simply spawning offspring.

Build birdbaths to attract nearby birds.
Birds can:
- Drink water
- Clean their feathers
- Use birdbath areas as activity locations
Observing birdbaths is a great way to discover nearby wildlife.

Neo Guan Niao introduces a bird food bag system.
Different food bags provide different functions:
- Seed-based food
- Fish-based food
- Growth control food
Bird food bags allow players to adjust bird growth:
- Pause growth
- Resume growth
- Accelerate growth
This gives players more control when raising their bird companions.

The mod includes an in-game bird observation guide.

Each behavior is independently managed, making the AI system easier to expand and maintain.
