π― What's New
This initial release introduces the first two festive foods for your Minecraft New Year celebrations! Both items have complete in-game models and custom textures.
| Item | In-Game ID | Effect | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dumpling | newyeardelight:dumpling |
Restores hunger, grants brief Regeneration I | β Ready |
| Rice Cake | newyeardelight:rice_cake |
Restores hunger, grants Jump Boost I (symbolizing "rising higher each year") | β Ready |
β οΈ Current Limitations
To set the right expectations for this early build:
- No Crafting Recipes: The main limitation is that both foods cannot yet be crafted in Survival mode. They are currently obtainable only through the Creative menu or commands like
/give. - Balancing Pending: Food restoration values and effect durations are initial estimates and may be adjusted in future updates based on feedback.
π οΈ Technical Notes
- Built on the modern NeoForge 1.21.1 toolchain.
- All items are registered through a deferred registry system.
- Effects use the vanilla status effect system for maximum compatibility.
- Custom textures (
16x16PNG) are implemented for both items.
πΊοΈ Development Roadmap
Here's a look at what we're focusing on next:
Next Version (Target: v0.0.2)
- Add Survival Crafting Recipes for the Dumpling and Rice Cake.
- Expand the Food Menu with more traditional New Year dishes.
- General code and asset refinements.
Future Vision
- Introduce interactive items (e.g., Lucky Red Envelopes with random rewards).
- Develop decorative and functional blocks (e.g., New Year Firework Block).
- Add support for more languages and integrate with popular mods.
π§ For Players & Testers
This is a very early alpha intended to test the core foundation of the mod.
- You can find the items in the Creative inventory (search for "New Year Delight" or the item names).
- Test the food effects and feel!
- Your ideas and feedback are valuable for shaping the mod's future.

Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
