Not So Shrimple (Reshrimpled) 2.3.0
New Miniboss: Crab
- Added the Crab, featuring custom positioning, movement, and attack-selection AI.
- Crabs can circle targets, flank them, close the distance, and turn in place with dedicated animations.
- Added four attacks: Kick, Smash, Throw, and Tossing.
- Throw can capture a victim in the claw and hold them throughout the attack. Captured players can escape by crouching.
- Smash creates a ground wave. A missed Throw or an escaped victim can also result in a ground wave.
- Smash features optional camera shake and a ground tremor that affects grounded creatures up to five blocks above the impact without additional health damage.
- Crabs have 300 health and 12 armor, ignore 40% of their victim’s armor, and heal for 30% of actual health damage dealt.
- Incoming projectile damage is reduced by 80%. Arrows have a 60% chance to bounce off the shell.
- Direct hits have a 50% chance to disable a blocking shield for 30 seconds. Ground waves do not disable shields.
- Added hunger: hungry crabs can hunt other mobs, including other crabs. Killing prey restores health and hunger.
- Crabs retaliate against attackers even if those creatures are not normally considered prey.
- Added obstacle avoidance, two-block stepping, and destruction of obstructing boats and permitted blocks during pursuit.
- Added dedicated sounds, subtitles, and a spawn egg.
- Added 18 appearances across Stone, Beach, Honey, and Bottom groups, selected according to biome.
- Stone-group crabs have an approximately 1% chance to be albino.
- Crab appearances can be cycled with a stick in Creative mode.
Items, Food, and Armor
- Added Chitin Shards and Crab Shell Scraps.
- Crabs drop 0–4 Chitin Shards and 2–4 Raw Crab Meat. Looting increases meat drops.
- Added Raw and Cooked Crab Meat, with furnace, smoker, and campfire cooking recipes.
- Raw Crab Meat has separate 30% chances to inflict Poison and Hunger.
- Eating either raw or cooked crab meat returns one Crab Shell Scrap.
- Three Crab Shell Scraps can be crafted into one Chitin Shard. One scrap can also be converted into bone meal.
- Added the edible Sea Snack, with a shapeless recipe, for taming and healing crayfish.
- Added Sea Chitin armor: a chestplate, leggings, boots, and two alternative headpieces.
- A full set with the helmet grants +40% knockback resistance. A full set with the hat grants 10% lifesteal from direct melee attacks.
- The helmet and hat differ in protection, durability, armor toughness, and enchantability. Chitin repairs the armor.
Crayfish Behavior and Combat
- Reworked aquatic movement, separating land walking, bottom walking, and free swimming.
- Aquatic mode requires at least 50% immersion. Simply touching water no longer triggers swimming.
- Wild crayfish periodically choose between walking along the bottom and swimming through open water.
- Added three-dimensional swimming with smooth turns, destination selection, and underwater pursuit.
- Body pitch follows actual movement, including breaching, falling, and re-entering water.
- Added swimming, fast-swimming, and backward-dash animations. Aquatic leg poses are maintained during attacks.
- Added an aquatic evasive response: a backward dash followed by a ranged attack.
- Enabled the rare NSS attack: a grab followed by a sequence of strikes. Crouching releases the victim and stops the remaining strikes.
- NSS follow-up strikes deal 8 damage plus 5%, 15%, 30%, and 50% of the victim’s current health, respectively.
- Reworked combat hitboxes to account for underwater body pitch. Body heading is locked during attacks.
Taming, Riding, and Equipment
- Crayfish can be tamed with Sea Snacks. The default taming chance is 25% and is configurable.
- Tamed crayfish stop hunting their usual prey, do not naturally despawn, and remain on Peaceful difficulty.
- Riding requires a standard saddle. Any player can use a tamed crayfish.
- Added land and aquatic riding controls, smooth steering, momentum, acceleration, and braking.
- Momentum and the fast-swimming request are preserved when breaching and re-entering water.
- Double-tap W to activate fast swimming. Space allows ascending without changing camera direction.
- Double-tap S to perform an aquatic backward dash, with a five-second cooldown and a cost of one full energy unit.
- Added energy: up to 30 seconds of continuous fast swimming, a ten-second regeneration delay, and 20 seconds for a full recharge.
- Added an energy indicator, mounted camera behavior, and rider rendering that follows the crayfish’s movement and pitch.
- Added a dedicated inventory with a saddle, two chests, carpet, and banner. Each chest unlocks 27 storage slots, for 54 total.
- Open the inventory with E while mounted or Shift + right-click a tamed crayfish. The saddle cannot be removed while chests are installed.
- Added a radial menu for selecting five attacks, with availability and cooldown indicators. Left-click executes the selected attack.
- NSS has a minimum 30-second cooldown. Movement is blocked during rider-controlled attacks.
- Sea Snack ingredients heal tamed crayfish for 15 health. Sea Snacks heal 25% of maximum health.
Spawning, Effects, and Technical Changes
- Added configurable natural crab spawning on beaches, stony and snowy shores, in deserts, badlands, and swamps.
- Changed crayfish natural spawning from the CREATURE category to MONSTER.
- Fixed shipwreck detection for Maneater spawning, including structures crossing chunk boundaries and retries when searching for a valid position.
- Reworked shipwreck spawning with limited per-tick processing, loaded-chunk-only searches, and no full synchronous area scans.
- Added settings for shipwreck Maneater spawning and optional natural spawning outside shipwrecks. Spawn settings are now grouped by creature.
- Reworked crayfish and River-Prawn Greatclaw ground-impact visuals with rising ground surfaces, cracks, and particles without modifying actual blocks.
- Fixed aquatic projectile orientation and collision checks, including collisions with thin obstacles.
- Crayfish and Maneater block destruction now runs only on the server. Expanded the shared list of breakable wooden and other soft blocks.
- Added debug modes, commands, visualization, and saved hitbox calibration for crabs and crayfish. Debug features are disabled by default.
- Added localization for new content and automated regression checks.
Removed
- Removed the local-area cooldown for natural crayfish spawning.
- Removed four unused crayfish animations from the old animation file.
Requirements
Minecraft 1.20.1, Java 17, Forge 47.4.10 or newer within the 47.x series, and GeckoLib 4.4.9 or newer for Forge 1.20.1.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
