v2.4.2 — Outline N' Stuff
The biggest update so far: the mod now runs on Fabric, it's massively faster, the config menu has been rebuilt, and it comes with a new name — plus a long list of fixes.
✨ Added
- Fabric support. The mod now runs on Fabric 1.21.1, with the same features and the same look as the NeoForge build.
- One single jar for both loaders. No more picking the right file — the same download works on NeoForge and Fabric. (Each loader picks its own build from inside the jar, so you'll see an extra "bundle" line in your mod list.)
- Now on Modrinth, alongside CurseForge.
- Settings that used to be command-only are now in the menu, including the held-item whitelist (one click to add what you're holding) and the occlusion options.
⚡ Performance
- The mod costs about 4× less on the render thread, with pixel-identical output. Measured two independent ways (internal probe −76 %, and a spark profile going from 21.6 % to 9.2 % of the render thread) — expect roughly +14 to +20 % FPS depending on the scene.
- Wall-occlusion checks are now cached, so busy scenes with many outlined items cost less.
🔧 Changed
- New name: Actions N' Stuff
- The config menu is now a tabbed side panel. No more single endless scrolling column that overflowed at high GUI scale — each tab fits on screen, and toggling an option no longer throws you back to the top.
- The panel width now adapts to your screen (it used to be fixed, covering half the screen at GUI scale 4 — which defeated the point of a side panel: keeping your weapon visible while tuning).
- The menu keybind moved to G (K was already taken by Iris), and the header now shows the key you actually have bound, so it can't go stale after a rebind.
- Advanced tabs (Occlusion, Debug) are hidden by default, unlocked with
/astoutline debug true. - Sliders show sensible values instead of things like
ring px: 13.0705.
🐛 Fixed
- Your held weapon's outline is no longer cut when you walk close to a wall. It stays in the foreground, as it already did under shaders.
- Enchanted items in the world are no longer visible through walls (without shaders) — dropped items, item frames, and weapons held by mobs are properly hidden again.
- …and it now holds at any distance.
- Modded cosmetic layers (quivers, capes) no longer show through walls.
🤝 Compatibility
- NeoForge and Fabric for Minecraft 1.21.1, client-side only.
- Works with Iris shader packs, Sodium, Punchy and Hold My Items as before.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
