New: Hunter's Sense (Values 0-4)
- Sneak + right-click the Hunter's Sense compass (given to every Value 0-4 player, bound like the other ability items) and it points at the nearest prey: a player at Value 6 or more, or anyone with a bounty on their head, up to 500 blocks away in the same dimension.
- It lasts 45 seconds at Value 3-4, 60 at Value 1-2 and 90 at Value 0, with a 5-minute cooldown.
- Far away it's rough: a fresh fix every 10 seconds, and the distance in bands (~50 / ~150 / ~300 / ~500 blocks). Within 50 blocks it locks on: the compass follows the prey live, and the distance is exact - without the item bobbing in your hand.
- The prey knows: "You feel watchedโฆ" when the hunt starts, and "Something is closeโฆ" with a quiet sound when the hunter is within 50 blocks. They never learn who.
- Who can't be tracked: players in safe zones or in a gated area the hunter isn't allowed into, under the Vanish ability (an invisibility potion doesn't hide you), in a duel, the hunter's clanmates, and new players under protection. When the prey can't be tracked any more, the compass turns to the next prey in range - or "The scent is lost."
- Tracking never puts anyone in combat. The secret Ascendant is tracked by their old value like anyone else, so the compass never gives them away.
New: Guardian (Values 8-10)
- When someone attacks a player within 10 blocks of you, and the victim didn't start that fight, you may hit the attacker for 15 seconds as self-defense - your peaceful minutes are safe. The action bar shows "Guardian: you may defend <player>".
- Only against the one who attacked, and you can't join a fight two players chose. A kill is still a kill, with the usual rules.
Values 6-8 carry some risk
- Killed by a player (a kill that counts) at Value 6-8, you lose 10% of your banked peaceful minutes, and any pending ones. Then you're safe from another loss for 12 hours. You're told how much you lost.
Resource pack
- The Hunter's Sense compass has its own look: a blood-red compass with a hunter's mark, its needle turning to the prey like any compass. Other compasses look and work exactly as before, and players without the pack just see a normal compass.
New config keys
hunterSenseDuration ([90, 60, 60, 45, 45] for Value 0-4), hunterSenseCooldownSeconds (300), hunterSenseRange (500), hunterSenseExactDistance (50), hunterSenseMinTargetValue (6), hunterSenseTrackBounties (true), hunterSenseWarnTarget (true), guardianRange (10), guardianSeconds (15), guardian in each value's passives (on for 8-10), midValueDeathLossPercent (10), midValueLossProtectionHours (12). Old configs keep working: missing keys use these defaults and are added to your file.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
