Compatibility
Changes
Rift Gun 0.1.0-rc.1 for 1.21.1
Rift Gun 0.1.0-rc.1 is the first release candidate for Minecraft 1.21.1, focused on stability, compatibility, and polish ahead of the 0.1.0 release.
This release also introduces the new multi-version codebase used to support Minecraft 26.1.2 alongside 1.21.1.
Highlights
- Fixed entity position and velocity synchronization after portal transit and Entity Relocation.
- Fixed a relocation reservation leak that could leave targets permanently busy.
- Fixed destinations continuing to target a previously selected player.
- Added proper handling and feedback for out-of-bounds destinations and portal placements.
- Added clearer action-bar feedback when portal transit is blocked or the exit is not ready.
- Migrated Rift Gun to a Stonecutter-based multi-version build, with Minecraft 26.1.2 now maintained alongside 1.21.1.
Details
Portal Transit and Entity Relocation
-
Restored the post-transit
hasImpulsebehavior for normal transit, deferred exits, and Entity Relocation. -
Fixed an Entity Relocation reservation leak when a destination was outside the valid world bounds.
-
Kept strict preflight rejection when the destination landing area is blocked.
Destinations and Safety
- Fixed destination selection when a player target was already selected. Creating or selecting a normal destination now correctly clears the stale player target.
- Out-of-bounds portal placements, destinations, chunk tickets, and relocation exits are rejected instead of attempting invalid chunk loads.
- Added clear notifications for out-of-bounds destinations.
- Added action-bar feedback when transit is refused.
Save Data and Client Fixes
- Restored typed NBT presence checks when loading save data.
- Legacy boolean motion-prediction values once again load as
TRAJECTORYorOFFinstead of incorrectly becomingPROJECTION. - Fixed recursive message-helper behavior on Minecraft 1.21.x.
- Player-list requests are now guarded while the client is disconnected.
Multi-Version Build
Rift Gun now uses:
- Gradle 9.7
- ModDevGradle
- Stonecutter 0.9.7
- Per-version JDK and Minecraft configuration
- CI matrix builds for supported Minecraft versions
Minecraft 26.1.2 is now maintained from the same shared codebase.
Requirements
- Minecraft
1.21.1 - NeoForge
21.1.140+ - Java
21 - The same Rift Gun version must be installed on both the client and server.
There are no required runtime dependencies other than NeoForge. JEI and RyoamicLights integrations remain optional and are not bundled in the release JAR.
Known Issues
- A faint light rim may appear around the portal surface. This is cosmetic and remains under investigation.
- Portal appearance may vary when using shader packs.
Release Candidate Notice
This is a release candidate for Rift Gun 0.1.0. The feature set is considered complete; development during the RC stage will primarily focus on fixes and compatibility issues.

Saves written by earlier 0.1.0 betas load without a migration step.
Optional dependencies
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
