Rift Gun 0.1.0-beta.5
The fifth public beta of Rift Gun, adding datapack-tagged special-entity transit and Entity Relocation support for falling blocks, primed TNT, and experience orbs, alongside rendering fixes for the Portal Gun item model.
Highlights
- Falling blocks, primed TNT, and experience orbs can now cross portals and be relocated through Entity Relocation.
- Fast-moving entities use swept collision so they cannot skip a portal face.
- Added datapack entity-type tags for extending or restricting portal transit and Entity Relocation.
- Fixed a see-through artifact on the Portal Gun item model caused by the zero-point core rendering opaque inside the translucent fuel tube.
- Simplified the Portal Gun item model by removing interior glass faces.
Details
Special-Entity Transit
- Falling blocks, primed TNT, and experience orbs are enabled for both ordinary portal transit and Entity Relocation through built-in entity-type tags.
- Falling blocks and primed TNT additionally use swept collision, so high-speed movement cannot skip a portal face. This runtime check can be disabled with the server setting
specialEntityTransit.enableSweptCollisionwithout disabling ordinary trigger-box transit.
Datapack Tags
Modpacks can extend or restrict the feature with datapack entity-type tags. Deny tags take precedence over built-in behavior and allow tags, while portal transit and Entity Relocation policy remain independent:
#riftgun:portal_transit_allowed
#riftgun:portal_transit_denied
#riftgun:portal_transit_swept
#riftgun:entity_relocation_allowed
#riftgun:entity_relocation_denied
- Tagged mod entities use Minecraft's generic entity teleportation, preserving vanilla-managed entity data and timers.
- Entity Relocation charges unfamiliar tag-only entities at the configurable utility multiplier.
- Compatibility still depends on the entity supporting Minecraft's normal cross-dimension teleport contract.
Rendering
- The zero-point core inside the fuel tube is now rendered translucent instead of fully opaque, fixing a see-through artifact that appeared when the camera moved around the gun.
- Removed four interior glass faces and the
zero_coretexture alias from the Portal Gun item model, reducing translucent overdraw with no visible change to the exterior.
Requirements
- Minecraft
1.21.1 - NeoForge
21.1.140+ - Java
21 - The same Rift Gun version must be installed on both the client and server.
There are no required runtime dependencies other than NeoForge. JEI and RyoamicLights integrations remain optional and are not bundled in the release JAR.

Optional dependencies
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
