Rift Gun 0.1.0-beta.2
The second public beta of Rift Gun, focused on entity relocation, projectile transit, expanded player privacy controls, new module capabilities and some visual effects.
New Features
-
Added the Entity Relocation Module
- Aim at entities and relocate them to the currently selected destination.
- Supports a dedicated keybind and SMART mode routing.
- Supports relocating multiple targets at once.
- Applies privacy requests and permission checks when targeting players.
- Adds additional portal fluid consumption based on the target entity type.
-
Added the Projectile Transit Module
- Allows eligible projectiles to pass through portals.
- Transforms projectile velocity, orientation, and model rotation after transit.
- Provides configurable transit-count limits and precise line-segment intersection detection.
-
Added the Matter Anchor Module
- Prevents dropped Rift Guns from naturally despawning.
- Makes dropped Rift Guns immune to fire, lava, and explosion damage.
-
Fall Guard can now optionally apply to other entities that are allowed to pass through portals.
-
Hold Sneak while pressing the mode-switch key to cycle modes in reverse.
-
The Rift Gun model now visually indicates the remaining portal fluid in multiple stages.
-
Added the new Privacy Terminal model.
Player Permissions and Privacy
-
Added structured per-player permission settings.
-
Supports global defaults, allow-all, deny-all, and custom policies.
-
Permissions can be configured separately for:
- Regular portals targeting another player.
- Entity Relocation exits targeting another player.
- Whether a player may be directly relocated.
- Whether another player's exit portal may carry the player away.
-
Permission requests, approvals, denials, and expirations are now reported through chat messages.
Balance
Default Entity Relocation fuel multipliers:
- Projectiles:
1.0× - Passive, friendly, and neutral mobs:
1.5× - Hostile mobs and players:
3.0× - Bosses:
10.0×
Fuel cost is calculated once when relocation begins and rounded down.
All multipliers are configurable by the server, including 0.0.
Fixes
- Fixed Privacy Terminal model mapping and display issues.
- Added recipe resource regression tests to prevent invalid 3×3 crafting patterns from entering future builds.
Documentation and Attribution
- The Portal Gun model is now documented as an original model created for Rift Gun.
- Removed the no-longer-applicable Just Dire Things model attribution and license notice.
- Retained the Tempad shader attribution for code and shader structures that are actually used.
- Corrected the Tempad repository URL.
Requirements
- Minecraft
1.21.1 - NeoForge
21.1.140+ - Java
21 - The same Rift Gun version must be installed on both the client and server.
There are no required runtime dependencies other than NeoForge. JEI and RyoamicLights integrations are optional.
Beta Notice
This is a beta release. Back up your worlds before upgrading.
Known limitations:
- The Lava Hazard crisis uses a bounded environmental search and may cancel when no suitable natural lava scenario can be found.
- Portal transparency and brightness may vary between shader packs.
- Vehicle and passenger entity trees may still behave incorrectly during portal transit in some cases.
Optional dependencies
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
