RPG Craft
Survival with a hundred levels, gear you have to earn, monsters that keep pace with you, and loot worth opening a chest for.
No mods · No resource pack · Minecraft 26.2
Vanilla Minecraft gives you everything in the first few hours and nothing to chase after that. RPG Craft doesn't add a single new block or mob — it turns the tools already in your hand into a real progression system.
Level up like it matters
- Your XP bar doesn't reset anymore — it is your level bar, 1 to 100.
- Level 1 → 2 costs about 60 XP. Level 99 → 100 costs thousands. The climb gets steeper right when it should.
- XP comes from kills (bigger threats pay more), mining (up to 100 XP for ancient debris), fishing, and one-off first-time bonuses — up to 1,000 XP for your first netherite.
- Dying costs a slice of progress toward your next level — never a level you've already earned.
- Enchanting is free. No XP cost, just emeralds and lapis like always.
Gear you have to earn
Every material sits behind a level gate. Put on iron too early and it comes right back off. Copper gets its own rung on the ladder — full armour and tools — instead of being the material everyone skips.
| Unlocks at level | Gear |
|---|---|
| 1 | Wood, stone, leather |
| 5 | Chainmail, bow, shield |
| 10 | Copper, crossbow |
| 15 | Gold |
| 20 | Iron, turtle shell helmet |
| 30 | Diamond, trident, mace |
| 40 | Netherite, elytra |
Rarity you can spot from across the room
Every weapon, tool and armour piece scores rarity purely from its enchantments — eight tiers, and material only sets a floor, not a ceiling. A perfectly enchanted wooden pickaxe can outrank a plain netherite one. Good gear glows — a particle beam in the item's rarity colour, readable from across the room.
Common → Uncommon → Superior → Rare → Epic → Legendary → Mythic → Relic
A lone book of Mending scores Legendary on its own. Relic — the top of the ladder — needs perfect enchantments and a netherite base at once. Anything less caps out at Mythic.
Chests worth opening
- Every chest rolls six pools at once — gear, ore & gems, building materials, decoration, utility, and a "special find" pool for the rare stuff.
- Nothing's ever locked away for good — low-level gear just gets rarer to find as you climb, instead of switching off.
- Themed kits (Redstone, Brewing, Decoration — stocked with pottery sherds) show up early and fade into loose collectibles like music discs and smithing templates once you're strong enough to find them on their own.
Building materials never include anything you can craft in five seconds flat — no cobblestone, no plain stone, no planks. It's always something worth the trip.
Monsters that keep up with you
- A zombie scales from 10 HP at level 1 to 120 HP at level 100 — up to 12x tougher, matching you the whole way.
- Named archetypes ride on top: Scavenger → Scout → Soldier → Knight → Warlord. Knights show up dressed for it, in trimmed iron or diamond armour.
- Elite mobs (up to 1 in 7 late-game) glow only up close, hit harder, and always drop bonus loot and XP — a mini-boss moment hiding in a regular pack of mobs.
Villagers worth visiting
- Trades are matched to the strongest player nearby — five stocking tiers, from starter goods to master-tier gear.
- Example: a copper sword for a few emeralds early on, an enchanted netherite sword for a stack and a half of emerald blocks late.
- Wandering Traders level up the more you actually trade with them, unlocking bulk deals.
- About 3 villagers in 10 wear a re-rolled appearance, just so a village doesn't look copy-pasted.
The shape of a run
Levels 1 → 50 — Every material unlocks in turn, wood to netherite. The run ends where vanilla always meant it to: at the dragon.
Levels 50 → 100 — Nothing left to unlock, just the chase toward Relic. And this stretch is only the start: a dedicated expansion pack built specifically for the endgame is on the way.
Getting it running
- Plain datapack for Minecraft 26.2 — no Forge, no Fabric mods, no launcher required beyond vanilla.
- Drop it into any world's
datapacksfolder (or a server's) and reload — new world recommended, or your villagers will be wiped, but it works either way. - No resource pack needed. If you already know how to play Minecraft, you already know how to play this.
Yes, text was made with AI, and it helped me polish my loot curve as well, but i've been working on this pack a long time...
