SmartSort
Sort your inventory and storage containers with a click or command. Items are grouped by type, and matching items stack together. Your hotbar and main inventory stay separate.
Version 2.0.0 is built for Minecraft 26.2 using the Paper API and Java 25.
If SmartSort has been useful on your server, please consider leaving a review or supporting development. Press that HEART! :) Thanks for using my plugin!
What's new in v2.0.0
Updated to Minecraft 26.2, the Paper API, and Java 25.
Updated chat messages and update notices to use Adventure.
Added tab completion for /smartsort.
Added sorting categories for newer items, including spears, maces, wind charges, copper gear, and horse and wolf armor.
The update checker now only suggests newer releases made for your server's Minecraft version.
Sorting is restricted to supported storage containers. Furnaces, anvils, brewing stands, horse inventories, and menus from other plugins are excluded.
Fixed the allowed-containers setting.
Fixed stacking so items with different enchantments, names, or custom data stay separate.
Added inventory restoration if a sort fails.
Clicking empty armor, offhand, or crafting slots no longer triggers sorting.
Fixed the per-player sorting rate limit.
Fixed use-permissions: false so everyone can sort when permission checks are disabled.
Fixed /smartsort inv and /smartsort hotbar for players with only smartsort.inventory.sort.
Added nothing-to-sort and players-only messages. These are added to existing configs automatically.
How to sort
In Survival or Adventure mode, shift+right-click an empty inventory slot to sort that section. You can also sort supported storage containers by shift+right-clicking an empty slot.
Commands work in all game modes, including Creative. Creative players should use commands to sort their inventory and hotbar.
Main inventory and hotbar sort separately.
Storage containers sort as a whole.
Matching items stack together when stacking is enabled.
Items are grouped into categories such as weapons, tools, armor, food, and blocks.
Category order and alphabetical sorting can be changed in the config.
Supported containers
Chests, trapped chests, barrels, shulker boxes, ender chests, hoppers, droppers, and dispensers.
Menus from plugins such as CMI and shop plugins are excluded.
Commands
/smartsort inv or /ss inv Sort your main inventory.
/smartsort hotbar or /ss hotbar Sort your hotbar.
/smartsort reload or /ss reload Reload the configuration.
/smartsort help or /ss help Show command help.
