Changes
26.1.x - Major Version Update - 1.5.0
Living Possession
- Introducing a new ability, Living Possession; players who are still alive can now be given the power to possess mobs without having to be a Ghost!
- Hold the new Living Possession keybind ('Unbound' by default, found under 'Souls' in your Controls) while looking at a mob for 3 seconds to possess it
- While already possessing a mob, hold the same keybind on another mob for 5 seconds to switch bodies
- Living Possession lasts twice as long and recharges twice as fast as regular Ghost possession
- You need at least 2.5 hearts to possess a mob, and leaving a possessed mob costs 2 hearts (it can never take you below half a heart)
- When you exit the possession, or the possessed mob dies, you are brought back to the exact spot where your possession began (or to where you last switched bodies) and put back into your previous gamemode
- Players with a Corrupted Soul can possess the Warden, using its Sonic Boom ray as its ability (R-key)
- Living Possession is disabled while you are in Ghost Mode, but returns once you are revived (through any means)
- All other possession rules (cooldowns, which mobs can be possessed, etc.) still apply (NOTE: This is not obtainable by players; it has to be granted by operators!)
Possession Changes
- Elder Guardians can no longer be possessed
- Possessed Armadillos can no longer move or jump while rolled up into a ball
- Ghosts who are possessing a mob can now always see other Ghosts
- Mob abilities (such as the Goat's charge and the Iron Golem's throw) no longer target invisible Ghosts by accident
Ghost Mode Changes
- Ghosts can now always hear each other in voice chat, whether one or both of them is possessing a mob (and no matter which mob)
- This does not apply to players using Living Possession
Soul Lantern Changes
- Soul Lanterns now have emissive textures, so their colored flame properly glows when using shaders (works with Iris/OptiFine shaderpacks and Continuity)
Item Changes
- Moved the Wither Rib in front of the Artificial Life within the Souls creative tab
Command Changes
- Added the following commands;
- /souls possess - toggles Living Possession for yourself
- /souls possess (player) (true/false) - enables/disables Living Possession for a player (toggles if left empty)
- /souls possess random - gives Living Possession to a random player, including players whose Soul was assigned before they ever joined
Compatibility Changes
- Fixed Simple Voice Chat not working while possessing mobs that can speak; you can now be heard through them again
- Added Illagers (Pillagers, Vindicators, Evokers, Illusioners) and Witches to the mobs that can speak in voice chat while possessed
- Players using Living Possession can only be heard in voice chat while possessing a mob that can speak
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug where a possessed mob's inventory wasn't saved, causing its stored items to disappear after a restart or its chunk unloading
- Fixed a bug where teleporting a possessing player (e.g. with /tp) left the mob frozen and the player stuck in Adventure mode
- Fixed a bug where a server crash during a possession would leave players stuck in the possession and mobs permanently frozen; possessions are now safely undone the next time the player joins
- Fixed the Souls keybind category not having a name in the Keybinds menu
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
