StreamCraft 0.29.3: screen-share audio picker, security fixes, a quieter menu
Please update, both players and server owners. This release includes a number of security fixes. It also brings the screen-share audio picker out of alpha, with fixes, and removes the confetti from the StreamCraft menu.
Screen-share audio picker
Desktop audio used to record everything your computer played, Minecraft included. If you shared your screen with sound, your in-game voice chat, other players' streams and game sounds went back out in your stream, so everyone heard themselves echo.
Screen share audio now has its own picker on the Live page, next to Source:
- Everything except Minecraft (the default): your browser, music, Discord and other apps, without the game, StreamCraft voice, Simple Voice Chat or other players' streams.
- Shared window's app: only the app whose window you are sharing.
- One app: pick it from the list of apps playing sound. StreamCraft remembers it. If that app closes, StreamCraft tells you in chat and switches to Everything except Minecraft, then switches back when the app opens again.
- Off.
You can switch while live; viewers keep hearing you without a restart.
On Linux, apps that play through PipeWire's PulseAudio layer are now told apart, so One app captures just that app and Everything except Minecraft keeps the game out.
Menu
- The confetti and slide-in when StreamCraft social first showed up on a server are gone. Discover, Friends and Board now simply appear in the menu.
Also in this release
- A one-time chat tip when Axiom's Force Place would stop a right-click from opening a Display Block.
Good to know
- Separating apps needs Windows 10 version 2004 or newer, macOS 13 or newer, or Linux with PipeWire. On older Windows, PulseAudio-only Linux, or a Flatpak launcher, the picker offers Whole desktop and Off and says that Minecraft and voice chat are included. There, use headphones.
- On macOS the app list shows apps with an open window.
- Server owners: the
api_urlline inconfig/streamcraft/config.propertiesis no longer used and can be deleted.
What was tested
- Automated tests, and every Minecraft version and loader builds.
- The screen-share Audio picker in game on Windows 11, Minecraft 1.21.1 Fabric, two players: every choice, switching while live, and the chosen app closing and coming back.
- The picker measured on the receiving side in game: Windows 11 sharing to Arch Linux with every Audio choice and Arch sharing back, on Minecraft 1.21.1 Fabric, and Everything except Minecraft on 14 version and loader combinations from 1.20.1 to 26.3 (Fabric, NeoForge, Forge). In-game sound stayed out of the stream on every one.
- macOS in game: a Mac sharing its screen with Everything except Minecraft to a Windows player. Another app's sound reached the viewer and the game's own music did not.
- The audio capture on Windows 10 22H2, outside the game.
- Older systems that can't separate apps fall back to the whole desktop, with the warning.
- The security fixes, in game on Minecraft 1.21.1 Fabric on Windows and Arch Linux.
- Proximity voice, and 0.28.6 and 0.29 mixed between server and players.
- The menu on Minecraft 1.21.1 Fabric, on a server with StreamCraft social on.

Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
