The Hush — v1.0.0 Changelog
Key Features and Highlights
- Improved Animations: Added new dynamic trigger animations for specific AI behaviors (wall slamming and block breaking) and enhanced secondary ambient motions that scale with the entity's attention level.
Gameplay and Balance Fixes
Sanity and Hallucinations
- Exploit Fix: Player sanity values are now correctly saved across server restarts and player logouts, preventing players from resetting their sanity by logging out.
- Fog Interactions: The custom sanity fog no longer overrides vanilla fog types. Water, lava, blindness, and powder-snow fog will now display properly when active.
- Bright Room Behavior: Fixed an issue where sanity whispers and drain mechanics would mistakenly trigger in well-lit rooms.
- Block Hallucinations: Fixed visual bugs where phantom blocks would fail to clear upon logging out, and prevented fake diamond ore from spawning directly under a player's feet.
Entity Behavior and Combat
- Loot Correction: Because the entity is completely immortal, a bug previously made "Cursed Pages" unobtainable in survival mode. They have been moved and now have a 20% chance to spawn inside nest loot chests.
- Item Theft Mechanics: The entity will now steal an entire stack of matched items (such as torches) instead of just a single item.
- Campfire Theft Visuals: Fixed a rendering issue where items stolen from campfires would still visually appear for the client.
- Invisibility Fix: Fixed a rare loop where a vanishing entity that immediately re-entered a hunting state would stay permanently invisible.
- Shield Mechanics: Adjusted shield-breaking logic to correctly register shields in the offhand even while eating.
World Interaction and Disruption
- Griefing Prevention: The "gaslight home" event is now strictly restricted to the Overworld, preventing unwanted block corruption in the Nether or the End.
- Abduction Room Safety: Fixed the abduction mechanic to ensure it no longer destroys player-placed blocks during failed generations, and blocks teleports that would push players outside the world border.
- Reduced World Corruption: The rate of permanent cobweb generation during light-dimming events has been reduced from 8% to 2% to protect long-term survival worlds.
Modpack and Server Stability
Performance and Threading
- Crash Prevention: Converted critical internal tracking data (attention maps, player memories, and entity caches) to thread-safe structures, eliminating random server crashes during high-activity ticks.
- Hot-Loop Optimization: Replaced heavy distance calculation metrics with highly optimized alternatives, drastically reducing processing strain per tick.
- Targeting Efficiency: Streamlined the entity's player-targeting mechanics to select targets in a single pass rather than multiple heavy loops.
Dimensions and World Generation
- Multi-Dimension Support: Fixed several world-generation checks that relied on hardcoded coordinates. Features like underground detection and nest placement are now fully dimension-aware and compatible with amplified, superflat, Nether, End, and custom modded worlds.
- World Origin Fix: Resolved a math error that completely blocked the world coordinates
(0, 0, 0)from receiving corruption or nest placements. - Unloaded Chunk Handling: Added safety checks to prevent silent data loss when corruption processing attempts to read unloaded chunks.
Server and Configuration Fixes
- Dedicated Server Crashes: Fixed a major side-loading crash by ensuring client-only packet information is safely isolated from dedicated server environments.
- Memory Leak Resolution: Added a 10-minute fallback timeout to automatically clear orphaned reposition locks when entities disappear, preventing permanent memory leaks.
- Tab-List Cleanup: Fixed an issue where overlapping fake-player events left permanent "ghost" players on the server tab-list.
Configuration Updates
- Real-Time Config Updates: Fixed a bug where changing configuration settings (including running
/reload) failed to apply in real-time. Configured attributes like attack damage will now correctly apply to entities that have already spawned. - New Config Options: Promoted 11 previously hidden internal values to the configuration file, allowing custom adjustments for darkness drain rates, proximity drain distances, and hallucination thresholds.
- Spawn Validation: Added safeguards to the configuration system to validate minimum and maximum spawn heights, preventing broken values from accidentally disabling natural mob spawns entirely.
- Feature Toggle Fix: Fixed a bug where disabling the "climax rule breaking" mechanic in the configuration file had no actual effect on gameplay.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
