The Hush — Changelog 1.2.1
AI Behavior Improvements
- Smarter Wall Climbing: The Hush now requires actual physical contact with walls to climb. It can no longer cling to distant surfaces or use players as invisible ladders. Climbing routes are verified through the surface pathfinding graph, preventing it from phasing through corners.
- Ceiling Transitions Fixed: The Hush can no longer teleport onto ceilings or use non-structural blocks (like foliage) as climbing anchors. Mantling onto ledge tops now requires a valid landing block.
- Pillar Climb Watchdog Removed: Removed the fixed 80-tick climb timeout that would prematurely detach The Hush from tall pillars. Climbing duration now scales with route length.
- Mushroom Cap & Wide-Top Navigation: Added explicit underside-to-top transitions for climbing mushrooms, wide T-shapes, and overhangs with collision preflight checks.
- Feinting Retreats Improved: The Hush now properly distinguishes between a natural retreat completion and being preempted, saving its mode state when interrupted.
- Combat Yield to Climb: Ground attacks and lunges can no longer interrupt an active wall climb. Strikes also reject targets standing on elevated pillars with no adjacent standing space.
- Swimming Steering Fix: Underwater pursuit now uses collision-aware steering, trying lateral alternatives around submerged obstacles instead of getting stuck on blocks.
Visual & Audio
- New Particle Effects: Added blood ember, dread drip, screech wave, and paranoia static particles for enhanced horror atmosphere.
- Weird Sun & Moon: Added corrupted void-tendril sun and moon phase textures visible during high-dread events.
- Drop Landing Sound: Fixed a bug where dropping from heights incorrectly played the lunge attack sound — now has its own distinct landing cue.
- Sound Asset Re-encoding: All ~80 entity, block, narrative, and player sounds re-encoded for smaller file sizes and consistent quality.
Bug Fixes & Quality of Life
- Ice Physics Fix: Resolved a bug where movement intents could corrupt physics on ice blocks, causing erratic sliding or momentum loss.
- Pathfinding Validation Cleanup: Removed a redundant double-check pass that was re-validating already-verified path segments, improving pathfinder performance.
- Landing Repair Guards: The global on-ground position repair can no longer cancel the first ticks of a legitimate wall climb, preventing sudden detachments.
- Squeeze Manager Guard: Squeeze-tick processing no longer cancels a newly-started wall climb, preserving climb momentum.
Systems & Config
- Paranoia Director Expansion: Expanded paranoia effect handling across all implemented categories (cassette, chest, whisper, tinnitus, footsteps, creak, flicker, victim, theft).
- Horror Director: Added a new central orchestration system for coordinating horror events and tension escalation.
- Minimap Detector: Improved minimap detection logic.
- Config Updates: Various gameplay and client config options refined.
Projects on Modrinth are automatically available through a Maven repository for use with JVM build tools such as Gradle. To learn more about the Modrinth Maven API, click here.
Note: When available, you should use the creator's maven repo instead as it will have transitive dependency information that the Modrinth Maven API does not. You may also end up with duplicate dependencies if you use a mix of Modrinth and non-Modrinth Maven repositories for your dependencies, because the group identifier will be different when served through the Modrinth Maven API.
