Tome of Echoes
Carry less. Build more.
Tome of Echoes is a Paper and Spigot plugin built around one simple idea:
Your building materials shouldn't have to live in your inventory.
Store placeable blocks inside a magical Tome as Echoes in the Rift, automatically collect tracked materials as you pick them up, and place blocks directly back into the world without constantly shuffling stacks through your inventory.
Whether you're gathering materials for a survival build, working on a massive project, or sharing resources with a group, the Tome keeps your blocks close without filling every slot you have.
No client mod required. Install the plugin on your server and players can use it normally.
What Can the Tome Do?
- Store placeable blocks outside your normal inventory
- Bind materials to Tome Pages for quick access
- Automatically deposit tracked pickups into the Rift
- Withdraw stored materials whenever you need them
- Place blocks directly from stored Echoes
- Quickly switch building materials with Pick Block on Paper
- Upgrade Tome capacity through configurable progression
- Share storage with other players through Riftlinks
- Separate storage by world or realm
- Control features with permissions and realm-specific restrictions
- Manage players and storage with built-in admin tools

Built for Builders
The Tome is designed to remove the repetitive inventory management that comes with large survival builds without simply turning the game into Creative Mode.
Instead of carrying shulker boxes full of the same few materials, players can bind those materials to Pages in their Tome and store the actual block counts inside the Rift.
Need the blocks back?
Withdraw them normally.
Want to keep building?
Attune the Tome to a stored material and place directly from storage.
Automatic Storage
Tracked block pickups can be deposited directly into the Rift instead of entering the player's inventory.
That means gathering materials can feel much cleaner:
Pick up blocks → Echo count increases → keep going.
No constant inventory clearing. No filling your hotbar with stacks you were only going to store anyway.

Placement Mode
Tome of Echoes isn't just a storage plugin.
Stored Echoes can be placed directly back into the world.
Choose a material from your Tome, enter Placement Mode, and use the Tome as a building tool. Each successful placement consumes one stored Echo.
This makes the Tome especially useful for:
- Large survival builds
- Terraforming
- Roads and walls
- Repetitive structural work
- Community construction projects
- Anyone tired of constantly refilling their hotbar
Normal block placement events are still used, allowing existing protection plugins and server rules to continue doing their job.
Pick Block Support on Paper
On Paper servers, Tome of Echoes also supports Minecraft's Pick Block action.
While holding the Tome, middle-click a block in the world to quickly switch the Tome's active placement material to that block — as long as you already have Echoes of it stored.
That makes switching between materials during a build much faster.
Pick Block integration is Paper-specific. Normal Placement Mode still works on other supported server platforms.

Pages and Personal Progression
In Player Mode, each player manages their own Tome.
Pages can be bound to individual block materials, and players can expand their available Pages through configurable upgrades.
A player's:
- Bound materials
- Stored Echoes
- Unlocked Pages
- Upgrade progression
can all be tracked separately.
This makes the Tome fit naturally into survival progression instead of giving players unlimited storage immediately.

Upgrade Your Tome
Tome capacity can grow over time.
Tome of Echoes includes configurable progression paths such as:
- Diamond Block crafting upgrades
- Netherite Smithing upgrades
Server owners can control how upgrades work, how many Pages are available, and which upgrade paths are enabled.

Riftlinking
Building with friends?
Create a Riftlink.
Riftlinking lets multiple players attune their Tomes to the same shared ledger of Echoes.
Members can contribute materials to the same pool, withdraw from shared storage, and build using the same shared resources.
This is useful for:
- Group building projects
- Shared survival bases
- Community storage
- Towns and factions
- Server-wide construction teams
- Cooperative progression
Instead of everyone maintaining their own stack of building materials, trusted players can work from the same shared Rift.
Riftlinks support separate roles for Owners, Admins, and Members.
Player Mode or Server Mode
Tome of Echoes supports two different approaches to Pages.
Player Mode
Each player chooses which materials their own Pages track.
This works well for survival servers where players develop and customize their Tome over time.
Server Mode
The server defines which materials are assigned to Pages.
This is useful when you want a consistent Tome setup for every player.
Storage for these modes is kept separate, so changing tracking modes does not overwrite the other mode's stored Echoes.
Realms and Multi-World Servers
Storage doesn't have to be global.
Tome of Echoes supports Rift Realms, allowing worlds to be grouped together or separated into different storage spaces.
For example, you could configure:
- Survival worlds to share one Rift
- Creative to use another
- Event worlds to have Tome features disabled
- Different game modes to maintain completely separate storage
Realm controls can also restrict individual features such as:
- Tome use
- Placement
- Auto-deposit
- Upgrades
- Cull mode
- Leaderboards
This gives multi-world servers much more control over where and how the Tome can be used.
Cull and Filter Unwanted Materials
Tome of Echoes includes tools for handling materials you don't want cluttering your inventory or storage.
Players can configure a filter for unwanted materials, and servers using storage caps can allow excess pickups to be culled instead of overflowing back into the world or inventory.
This is especially useful when mining or gathering large amounts of material.
Built for Server Owners Too
The player experience is handled through simple in-game GUIs, while server owners and moderators get deeper control behind the scenes.
Tome of Echoes includes:
- SQLite-backed persistent storage
- Player and Riftlink storage management
- Admin inspection tools
- Admin adjustment/reset tools
- Audit logging for admin storage changes
- Realm management
- Configurable permissions
- Configurable slot limits
- Configurable upgrade paths
- Material blacklisting
- Optional Modrinth update checks
- Built-in usage metrics through bStats
Getting a Tome
Players can receive or craft a Tome of Echoes depending on your server setup.

Once obtained, players can open the Tome and begin binding Pages and storing materials.
